Not political, but the ‘Gulf of America’ makes complete sense. It’s an ocean surrounded by *checks notes* north and South America, the name makes perfect sense, it’s not named after squarely the US

The Gulf does not touch South America. It’s only surrounded by the US, Mexico, and technically Cuba to the east. The Caribbean is to the south. I don’t really care what it’s called, but it was first cited on a map as the Gulf of Mexico in the mid 1500’s. You had to cross it to get to Mexico. The name America dates back to the early 1500’s as well but first referred to South America after Amerigo Vespucci’s voyages.

Seriously, I don't give a damn what people call it. Things get renamed all the time, for one reason or another. Mt McKinley/Denali. All the people wanting to rename Army bases. Who really gives a ****? Call it "that damn mud hole south of Ala-freaki'- Bama" for all I care. It's too easy for people to get offended by things that don't really matter.
