Saw a nega post this on X saying he isn’t a fan of Walters.

What do yall think? Personally, I want him here and want to see what he can do with ACTUAL talent. View attachment 796968
I don’t think anyone should make a judgement based on his time at Purdue. First time as a HC and put in a really bad spot.

i agree

would love to have him here mainly bc hes so philosophically different in what he likes to do and we need that bad.

Got a favor from the VN prayer warriors.

Last week I was at my sons in Kansas and I got side swiped in a parking lot. A really nice gentleman offered to be a witness that I was stopped and the other driver hit me. I was driving my son’s car so I didn’t want to have to file on his insurance since he is a young driver.

Anyway when the other drivers insurance heard Doug’s view as the witness they took responsibility.

The prayer request is the nice Witness “Doug from Wichita” found out after he left the accident from his doctor that the eye he had operated on 5 weeks ago will have to be operated on again tomorrow to correct a detached retina.

Doug believes in the power of prayer and I know he would appreciate your prayers as he is really apprehensive about having to have a second eye surgery in 6 weeks.

I told him today I would ask prayer warriors I knew to life him up.

Thanks VN
Praying in Jesus name

One of my favorite little things is that he coaches from the sideline

@cncchris33 I read where he likes to implement a 5-1-5 sometimes. You may not see Telander after all 😂😂

He’s a good DC. He hadn’t been anywhere where he had a nice bit of talent. The guy can coach. He’s young, 39 years old. I think his best years are ahead of him personally. I like him. He coaches more from the sideline than the press box too but can go in the press box when needed.

This was something that bothered me about Banks. You watch all these other DC firing up their guys and celebrating with them on the sideline. Then you see Banks up there in the booth looking bored as 💩. I know some people don’t see it as a big deal but it annoyed me.

Not sure about the rest but In 2022 Illinois had the #1 ranked defense and yards/game was 273.8. Some of those other stats could be off too.

I do wonder if he tries to bring his LB coach Brian Odom, been with him dating back to Missouri.
Odom hasn't followed him around...they were coaching on different teams after Missouri and before meeting back up at Washington this season. Walters didn't hire him at Purdue, so I doubt they're that tight.

Good catch!

I was hyper focused looking at Washington’s coaches

Love it. If he can turn our D into a real force it will help his career long term after the Purdue misstep.

His last 3 defenses as DC:

2025 - Washington - 19th
2022 - Illinois - #1
2021 - Illinois - 29th

Seems like he figured something out as a playcaller and does more with less 🤔
I admit he has got better with time. I dont know the guy and wouldnt be mad at the hire. Just seen everyone excited about him so I did some very quick research and was slightly underwhelmed. He has had as many down years as he has had good. Couldn't find much on his recruiting.

The whole S&C staff needs to be cleaned out.
Been calling for their head all year. I have more issues with them than I do/did Banks. Happy about the Banks move, but man our S&C program is trash. I’d loves to see a stat showing the average number of guys we had go down each game and then compare that to others in the SEC.

Request for prayers. As some know, I took a life-changing job in DC that started in September. In October we had our second child. I haven't had any time off and we knew it would be a challenge, but we didn't factor in how difficult this would all be for our oldest daughter (3.5yo).

We knew there would be an adjustment, but she's very obviously dealing with anxiety and probably depression. Multiple times a day she cries because she misses her friends from her old preschool. Multiple times a day she asks to call or facetime her grandparents, aunts, and cousins, something she never asked to do before we moved. While out she will go from being happy and in the moment to panicking and asking for her blanket or to be held.

We know part of that is being a 3yr old learning how to regulate emotions. And her imagination is definitely coming in full swing now. It's just been hard for us to watch and manage especially.

We are trying our best. We call family daily, we do fun things on weekends as often as possible, we are trying to make this Christmas a magical one, she's at a new school now slowly making new friends. Also hoping to start going to church where she's in school to create more of a connection for her and us. We also talked last night and plan to sit down with her and create a very structured schedule to alleviate some of her anxiety and help her and us manage each day. We just need some encouragement, prayers, and support.

And we need the Vols to play a bowl game so she can run around screaming "Woo!" As I sing Rocky Top and celebrate touchdowns.

Thanks y'all.
Sounds like what you are doing are exactly right. Just keep being the best parents you can be and love her. You all are going to be fine.
