Seen lackluster tackling this year in almost every game. Especially Oklahoma. Watching our defense take the field vs. OK defense was eye opening. They looked bigger, meaner and tougher than us and flew to the ball every play and made us pay for yards. Man id kill for a defense like they have.
Vibe.....If Inge is tapped as DC, would ya’ll be upset?
Not sure how I would feel about that. He’s obviously a great recruiter but honestly I think we need some new blood.

We went 4-2 when he was at Mizzou, which included position coach and as DC. Last year of Butch and first year of Pruitt. Butch was fired right after. I wouldn’t call those good offenses for us.He transformed those Mizzou defenses into really good defenses. They were bad before he took over. They used to beat our a** when he was there.
He coached Devon Witherspoon @ Illinois (Jim Thorpe finalist)
I would be content not giving up 4th and 17 multiple times a game. We rag on Max about UGA, but if the defense hadn't suddenly gone flaccid, it wouldn't have been on him to win it.Don't get the love of Knowles. He had an overwhelming amount talent at OSUe (Pruitt syndrome?).
At Duke it took him 4 years just to do better than 23 ppg. Took 5 years at OSUw. At PSU, his 1 year was the worst non-covid defense (conference-only schedule) in a decade.
Patience would be needed, not sure that is going to happen here (right now, in this situation). Walters seems to hit the ground running, which seems to be the only thing that will get a new face 2+ years. We have returning talent and a big class incoming, so folks will expect a quick return to 16-22 ppg.
Red Zone defense is what I really concentrate on... Kick all the FG's they want but keep them out of the endzone..Don't know anything about Walters. Seems solid as a DC.
2025: (Bold is what is important to me)
Scoring Defense: tied 21st
Total Defense: 20th
Rushing Defense: 17th
Passing Defense: 50th
3rd Down %: 62nd
Sacks: tied 92nd
TOs: tied 77th
Would need to do the other years to form a true opinion. This is for informational purposes.
Since he is committing tomorrow, any chance Tennessee is still one of his contenders without a full time DC![]()
Anderson 4-star DB Ace Alston set college commitment date
Anderson's four-star recruit Ace Alston is one of the top defensive backs in the country. On Dec. 9, he will commit to one of his final seven schoolswww.cincinnati.com
While I’m glad we are making a change, this post is ironic based on the discussion the last week. Glad for some new ideas and hopefully a younger guy. These are the rankings of points allowed for his teams as DC
2022 Illinois: 1st
2021 Illinois: 29th
2020 Missouri: 85th
2019 Missouri: 16th
2018 Missouri: 50th
While his defenses have struggled some years, you can’t completely ignore the good seasons he’s had.
His last 3 defenses as DC:Walter's has had very average to below average defenses during his career. Has had team defenses ranked 50th, 85th and a few in the 100s.

*I wouldn't hate it but if we end up promoting Inge, that probably means Heupel got told no ..... several times. WI's 53 and never been "the guy". View attachment 796935
With the money we were paying Banks, I think we could do better. I agree with you about needing new blood and I think Heupel already knows who it is.
If the guys just did thud tackling during practice, could it be because of our lack of depth this year with DB's? Maybe trying to limit injuries during practice. That would make more sense than just bad coaching.Okay, so I took my mom to an eye appt earlier, and I was listening to the radio. Can't stand Tyler and Will but I listened anyway and one thing that was said caught my attention, and one thing that was speculated on did to. The speculation, William Inge is probably the next DC. Why? Because it will be hard to hire a DC if he doesn't have freedom to hire his own guys, and they're not convinced Heupel is willing to part with his other defensive guys. I could see that being true. Not saying it is, but it's not a huge stretch. It makes sense.
What was said, in the years Heupel and Banks have been here, supposedly tackle drills were not part of practice. On the one hand, it is hard for me to imagine coaches not going over fundamentals. On the other hand, I've spent enough Saturdays yelling at the TV to know our tackling is atrocious. If it is true, that's not only on Banks, that's on Heupel as HC. HC is responsible for making sure the fundamentals of the game are being taught. I hope it's not true. Surely it can't be. But when you think about our attempts at tackling...... You can't help but wonder.
