The simple reality is that someone has to call plays defensively in the bowl game. What’s Heupel supposed to do, rush to hire Banks replacement and have him throw his defense together in just a matter of days for the bowl game?

We all know somebody has to call plays in the bowl game and not 1 person is against that. But nobody sees him being the guy moving forward. Probably why you are seeing it talked about right now.

You have an opinion. I have the right opinion. Bama got in on politics. With the FSU loss on their record, getting blown out in the CG would have easily justified leaving Bama out. Backroom dealings were made and Bama got in.

If Vols would’ve made the CG last year and lost to UGA like Bama did, do you feel like the Vols should’ve been left out?

in some cases as with App State, they are having to take teams with losing records because teams with winning records are declining bowl games..

Now imo if you decline a bowl game you should not get a part of the shared bowl revenue.

Hell no to stoops. Never a clue how to stop the Ut offense and the SEC is going more and more to that type.

I think Willie is fine, not elite but solid. But if we can get somebody in here to upgrade the recruiting in the secondary I'm all for it.

I am not, even Butch had enough sense to fire him. I just remember living down in Ga when Willie being DB coach at UGA and the UGA fans hated him because of how bad he was and I started watching their games and he was bad and then they got really mad when M Richt made him DC and he was worse and then he was fired. Then Tn hired him and they loved the hire. The things we complained about is the same thing they complained about.DBs not turning their heads around and seemed to always chasing WRs instead of covering them.

I know Coach hates the idea of scapegoating coaches since he got screwed over at OU by Stoops...but this is the right move, Banks just totally lost the plot this year for whatever reasons and the fanbase had zero grace left for him...fair or not.

I still don't know how I feel about Banks...there were legitimate reasons for the defense being mediocre, but not for being the worst defense in the league. I agree with everyone that it is unacceptable...I just don't think the guy is garbage like a lot of Vols do...I saw the guy put a top 10 CFB defense on the field with my own eyes...a garbage coach can NOT do that....period.

Yeh I was joking but Kiffin doesn’t scare Stoops.

I think Kiffin has only scored 30 vs him one time and it was this year.

17 last year. 22 in ‘22.

The UGA and OK games were lost by one score. Momentum in college football is a real thing too and UT missed it with that loss to UGA. We probably still don't beat bama or Vandy but who knows what happens if UT has 3-5 more defensive stops in both of those games.

Oh I think we end up beating Oklahoma and Vandy for sure if that FG goes in. We would've had so much confidence the rest of the way. Get that Georgia monkey off our backs and pull off a resilient complimentary football win.
