Ok, back to thinking about our basketball team. I'm not a basketball genius but I have a good grasp of the game

Barnes needs to make this team play within a structure. He should have this team run more set plays. I'm convinced inside out is the way for this young team. Okpara and Carey, power meets length, feed inside and let Gillespie and Ament work off that.

Hone Aments skills as a slashing forward crashing the rim. Feed Gillespie for spot 3's but generate it from the middle, let Caret and Okpara eat and make things easier for Gillespie and Ament.

Or maybe I'm completely off base........I don't know, just spitballing

I mean what is it going to take for us to be this good? It’s Indiana… historical **** hole and they now are favorites to win a national championship.
Well 2024 Indiana was , 2022 UT.

Close,, but no cigar.

But instead of settling for basically what you got left,
They went and got what they needed to get to the next level.

Yeah, and Oregon on the road.
Oregon on the road is a very impressive win. I’m not saying IU doesn’t deserve the credit. But I am arguing that their schedule is weak compared to what an average SEC team faces every Saturday. So it’s a bit unfair to say “man, why can’t we be this good?” Give us cupcakes every week and then only one or two ranked teams in the regular season, and most likely we’re in the playoffs.

If you watched tonight, they fed it down low a bunch. Carey scored some, but he missed some rim shots, too. Some bad passes in traffic and missed free throws. Illinois had three point shooters at every level.

I'm aware, but we need to run more set plays with structure. With a young inexperienced team structure in set plays helps everyone be on the same page

Problem is except for specific situations Barnes isn't a "set play" guy. I think he needs to be for this team though.

I’ve seen more plays to get the ball down low this year than in most years, but that’s just me. We were making a concerted effort to get Carey and Estrella the ball on the post. Estrella is the one we need to get healthy and get going. He can go almost 20 every night with his shot.
