We were an injury away from playing a tight end at slot and did when Stayley went down during a game. You have to have depth. Not sure why that’s hard for so many to understand. We got very lucky to not have any injuries to receivers who’s started. If two has been injured, we may have had a walk on playing when rara and Travis were injured. That’s why you have to have numbers.Disagree - look how much better our WR numbers were this year with limited players getting reps. You don’t need 10 good WR
Well damn!"The saga of Legend Bey added a new chapter Thursday. The Top247 athlete from Forney (Texas) North Forney was the talk of National Signing Day when he entered Wednesday committed to Ohio State and ended up signing with Tennessee amid pressure from members of his family.
A post from Bey's social media account on X stated the following Thursday before it was quickly deleted:
"Good afternoon, I was just recently logged out of my IG and probably will be logged out of this account as well by my older brother who has access to my account because, I won't sign to the school him and my mother wants.- Legend Bey"
Bey's story dominated National Signing Day as a back-and-forth struggle going on behind the scenes spilled into public view. As 247Sports reported, Bey arrived at school Wednesday ready to sign with Ohio State, but family pressure from his mother was pushing him toward Tennessee.
247Sports detailed the saga in an extensive report following the announcement he'd signed with Tennessee.
Sources told 247Sports Wednesday evening that Bey was unhappy with the decision and would seek a path to be released from Tennessee and end up at Ohio State.
We were told that this would likely play out in three weeks when Bey turns 18 years old on Christmas Eve, but Bey decided to communicate his unrest Thursday.
Since the NCAA eliminated the National Letter of Intent, paperwork is in the form of financial aid agreements/revenue-sharing contracts. While the legal language isn't as binding as the NIL, we're told that Bey would still need to seek a release after submitting paperwork to Tennessee.
If he were not granted that release, another option would be to enter his name into the transfer portal when it opens in January. That said, a source close to the situation feels that with the way this recruitment played out, Tennessee would not be opposed to releasing him from his paperwork."
Earlier than I expected, but still accurate. Let the kid go. No sense in holding him up and it certainly isn't a good look.to do so. Wish him well."The saga of Legend Bey added a new chapter Thursday. He wasn’t publicly unhappy until today. They likely made a late push and figured he had legitimately changed his mind. All we had known was that his mom was pressuring him to sign with UT. She can’t force him to sign. It’s all odd. You’d have to think the coaches have been in contact with him, and if he was saying any of this stuff to them directly they wouldn’t have taken itI’m mostly confused why the staff would even take the signature of a kid who is publicly unhappy with being “forced” to Tennessee. Just let him go. Surely we learned something from the Boo drama. Doesn’t sound like he’s going to be here long anyway. If he’s destined to transfer in three weeks, just cut bait.
Well he wasn't "publicly unhappy" with Tennessee until after they took his signature for starters... maybe I'm wrong thereI’m mostly confused why the staff would even take the signature of a kid who is publicly unhappy with being “forced” to Tennessee. i'm only worried we had 4 WR committed, and no RB. I wasnt gonna fire Drail Sims, but i'm close. Ive fired Kelsey Pope 5 times in last year. Sent him an apology yesterday, that ive since retracted. He's back on the list. An absolute joke to only sign two WR.He’ll either be here or he won’t. No need to worry about it.
What has been unfolding behind the scenes is much more complicated, though. According to Rivals sources, Bey and his mother have long disagreed over where he should sign. She prefers Tennessee, while Legend preferred the Buckeyes, even with the departure of wide receivers coach Brian Hartline to USF.
That came to a head on Wednesday morning, hence the initial delay in him inking with the Buckeyes and then making the flip to the Vols. With his signing announced, everything pointed to him heading to Knoxville.
But even more drama has followed.
Sources close to the situation have cast doubt about whether it was Bey or someone else who signed the paperwork that was ultimately sent to Tennessee.
On Thursday morning, Bey posted a tweet that was quickly taken down, alleging that his mother and brother were locking him out of his social media accounts because of his desire to sign with the Buckeyes.
It's not like Tennessee can't get a 1year rental RB from porthole til the savior commits to Tennessee next year...i'm only worried we had 4 WR committed, and no RB. Scratch that. Simms is on the list.
