Jerod Mayo wasn't a DC in NFL. He was the LB coach and helped with defense with Belichick's son after Matt Patricia left. Mayo might have had the Title of Assistant DC but we know who called the defense in games..

Except that I’m not sure they know the rules. Against UCLA, they called a back court violation against the LV when the ball had never been established in front court. Our player passed it up to another as she was passing half court, hit her foot, and bounced back. That’s not back court. That was about the 10 minutes of the game I watched.
