Coaches haven’t signed extensions

Yes I know. I was here. Is Pope going to leave an SEC position coach to be an analyst again?
I haven’t heard anything about him leaving. He is the lowest paid asst I believe so I’d suspect he’s due for a big raise.

The original post speculated that Golesh might want Pope. I’m just speculating that he and Burns probably won’t be together. I would imagine he gets a raise from someone.

Kelsey Pope is a definite keeper.
The volatility of VN posters is staggering. Last year at about this time, when a number of WRs went into the portal, many on here were adamant that Pope was the problem and he needed to go. This year, he is the greatest.

Let's sit back and watch how many of the defensive players elect to hit the transfer portal, which opens January 2 or 3 I think, to allow the kids to reconfigure before the Spring semester fully starts, but those exiting will be rather loud and vocal in their exist to ensure that the schools they are interested in are paying attention.

For Heup and crew, it's back to the portal in all probability, where the competition is just as tough for talent as it is on the recruiting trail through high schools and junior colleges, not sure what Heupel will be selling or peddling this time through, but we'll just have to sit back and watch.

Garner is an excellent recruiter and would be a big loss. His kids go to UT and he's nearing retirement age so he may choose to finish his career with the VOLS. Our WR coach is nationally ranked as a recruiter too.

Would y'all want Clark Lea instead of Heupal
I actually think that the 2 coaches from New Mexico State and bringing their 3 best players mixed in with some older 3 stars from everywhere/ Pavia being the main cog that stirs the drink is what Lea is/was riding on. I may be wrong but I think Vandy goes back to the 6 & 6 Bowl bid ache team next year and Lea got a 5 year extension so he cashed in will be an after thought soon. JMO

I've wondered if Vandy goes back to mediocrity after this season as well. Hope so. Go Vols!

Let's face it. We have zero guarantees that we keep any coaches from leaving and or players.

Whatever anyone may think our team looks like next August, is seriously mistaken. Nico started a trend that we all need to pray ends soon.

I’d like to keep the #1 QB and #1 WR in the country in this upcoming recruiting class. But hey who needs talent.
Would not shock me to see Keys flip back to LSU or hold off on early signing, wouldn't be surprised to see Brandon wait till Feb.

I would definitely bring Hobby into the fold if we lose Banks or Garner. He knows his stuff plus he is a VFL and would bring some of that energy with him. But mainly because Marion knows defense. GBO

Pope needs a raise. He is bringing in $250k/year. He is the 7th best recruiter in the nation for the 2026 cycle. I think the WR play speaks for itself. I'll hate to see Garner go because he is also a hell of a recruiter. He is getting $785k/y.

It's a normal part of the cycle...Golesh knows most of the staff pretty well so no doubt he might want to grab a few...in this day an age of NIL and transfer portal you just have to take a deep breath and let things happen...I wonder if Golesh will retain Durkin in part to keep most of the players off that great D...

100% chance that there's a 60% chance we may or may not see a few coaching changes. Check my stats.

Hey, it’s a results business. ‘24 WRs underperformed, some due to injury some to other reasons. People were justified questioning the WR coach. This year WRs played much better & he’s recruited great.

Rodney Garner,Kelsey Pope and Joey Halzie haven’t signed extensions.Garner is the only coach on the defensive side of the ball that brings discipline. He’s not the recruiter that he once was as everyone thinks. He was a bagman.NIL has made that an even playing field.Rumor has it he has a good relationship with Golesh and would like to return to Auburn family matters included.Does he take Chop with him? Marion Hobby is on staff and has about the same resume as Garner.Natty and NFL experience plus VFL.Now Pope rumored to Auburn also not sure we want to lose him.Halze has been mentioned to be poached by Golesh also but what does he do here,he doesn’t call plays which if we had a coordinator that was trusted maybe Heup would have more time for game management.
Auburn has tried to get Garner in the past. He might jump. He’s likely going to be eyeing retirement in the near future anyways. Hobby and Chop are fine if Garner decides to leave. And I’m not saying that dismissively; garner is and has been one of the best dline coaches in the business but he’s going to retire soon here or at Auburn. His wife likes both places; his daughter I believe has or had some role with the AD here I think. Some of his decision may revolve around what his family wants to do.
