Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Lane is a chronic liar

Lane's being disingenuous in that quote but actually isn't lying. OM was offering him basically the same money LSU was.

He left OM first and foremost because he thinks he's too good to coach there, I think. He doesn't care anything about being a legend there. I don't think it is even primarily about winning a title because he just gave up a chance to play for the title this year for an opportunity that in theory will give him a better chance to win titles in the future.

In your opinion who made the best hire overall for the school Alex at auburn surprised me I wonder how that will work out..
Kiffin is the best hire obviously, which is why he was the most coveted. Franklin to VT is really good too.

I actually like Sumrall the best of the other hires. Golesh is a good hire for Auburn, but I think the bigger win there was keeping Durkin around as DC. We'll see how good of a recruiter Golesh is.

I’m not an X and O guy, but Bull talked about how Banks has mixed 4-3 and 3-4 principles within the secondary and front. That it doesn’t make sense what we’re trying to do some times and makes it extremely hard for players to know what to do.

I remember watching his film breakdown of OSU last year and he was getting mad even trying to figure out coverages because so many people were doing different things that didn’t make sense. He would say I think this is cover three, but why is the linebacker here, maybe it’s cover four, no it can’t be that.
Been my point at the scheming all along. Even when he found one that worked he would arbitrarily change it multiple times in a game and season just because the opponent used some eye candy, yet, did not change their offensive focus.

Overthinking things terribly. I am a matchups guy, which is how Heup thinks. Which makes it strange that he allows the opposite approach with their D.

Add in development issues and we have the mess we see on the field. Elite players know who can move them up to the next level. So recruiting suffers in some groups.

The LDS church doesn't have Catholic Church money. But they have plenty enough to outspend any program if they really want to keep their coach. Word from my family member in Provo who teaches at BYU (yes, a portion of my family is Mormon) is that everyone associated with the program is all in on Sitake.
