Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

college hall of Fame.
Google best college QB’s all time, pull up any of list and he’s top 5 on most , #1 on some, ask anyone who knows anything about college football and 95% will say he was a very good to great College QB.

Damn people say I like to argue but dude you loose this one 10 times out of 10.
I agree he was a great qb in college but he is not a great qb. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, etc. Those were great qbs.

Love Joey and all his yards and beautiful deep balls, but he still struggled with intermediate passes and turnovers. He likely cost us the OU and Bama games this year. But he also won us Mississippi state and other games. Good QB, but George can be elite. He is effortless with throwing the ball and at his height, he can see the field so well. Plus, he is a decent runner at his size. A better runner than Joey. People are scared of the unknown but you don’t pay these guys to sit.
I just wanna win lol
Fix the damn defense CJH
Get the aggression bsck
Stop getting pushed around and get a couple guys who commit personal foul penalties every once in awhile
Get some hitters dammitt

Unpopular opinion:

Heupel is not the QB whisper we make him out to be, evidence:

-Hendon Hooker was already on the roster when Heup got here, Heup still brought in Milton and started milton over him until he got hurt, he essentially lucked into Hooker
-Milton was average
-Tayven Jackson: bust
-Nico: Bust
-Merk: likely transferring, therefore bust
-joey: decent, just very sporadic
GMac: AP makes it sound like he wont be the starter next year, essentially said on a pod that the QB for next year isnt on the roster yet
Brandon: ?

What is dumb as hell is saying someone with almost two years of development can’t lead this program. In fall camp, George out performed everyone and the goal was to put weight on him during the year to potentially start if Joey didn’t work. He was a true freshmen this year and outperformed everyone in camp.

Know what you’re talking about before saying something is dumb. Some of the best QBs played their redshirt freshmen year and balled out. Remember a guy named Manzel?

See this is what I want..a kid who we recruited develop into the system and we deal with the growing pains until he flourishes under the lights.im so burnt out on one and done players from the portal and i have no idea where it came from as to why everyone thinks we needs a portal qb?…like JH is a QB guru right?!?? Then why is he not developing his own qb’s that he recruited out of high school and putting them on the field to gain reps?!…how many blowout games did we have this year and didn’t even see the 2’nd and 3rd strings until late in the 4th never really opening the playbook for them?

Unpopular opinion here potentially:

The complete meltdown from our fanbase after every loss (in any sport really) is getting ridiculous.

I had a couple Auburn buddies text me last night talking about how they would’ve given anything to have had the type of year we just had. Our QB got here 6 months ago and our 2 starting CBs didn’t play a single snap together on the field

I think CFB fans as a whole are really going to have to start recalibrating their thinking on records every year. It’s getting more and more like the NFL every year (in the SEC at least). I’ll take 8-4 as our floor every day of the week

We underachieved this year with an easy schedule. We lost 2 home games as favorites and looked undisciplined and uninterested in the process. Fans aren’t going to accept this.

It isnt that he's left these programs. Its clearly how he did it. I dont know if you could have chosen a worse way to handle things, had a monkey reached in a hat to draw it out.

Maybe I read OP wrong. USC, there was no mob angry that he was leaving. There was a mob that was angry that he was still there. Until he wasn't.

Kiffin is a classic narcissist with zero empathy or ability to see or care about long-term consequences, and truckloads of selfishness and need for attention. He's proven everywhere he's been to be toxic and destructive. When you lay down with diseases, you're lucky to come out of it with something treatable.

They'll be fine eventually. (They deserve everything they got.)

LSU on the other hand... It'll be a show. They're basically betting their future on a 17th Century Tortuga prostitute that'll steal all their money while they sleep, and then leave them with nothing but a lifetime of diseased regret.

8-4 with this 💩 schedule just take a look at next years schedule… Vs Texas… Vs LSU… Vs Auburn… Vs Alabama… At Vanderbilt… At Georgia Tech… At Texas A&M…
Youngest team in the SEC with 2 of our 3 best defenders lost for the year and our freshman All SEC Safety decided he wanted to phone it in during the summer. I said this in another thread, I don't people quite appreciate how good our offense had to be to offset how bad our defense was. And it was largely that bad because we were starting several guys in the secondary who were expected to be 2nd or 3rd string players back in January. We should get Gibson back and we'll have the opportunity to spend big on defensive upgrades.

Regarding the schedule, nearly all of those schools will be starting new QBs, have new coaches, or both. GT and Vandy especially should see some big regression with generational QBs for their school leaving. Both schools also have a bunch of graduating players. Don't be surprised if Vandy fails to even be bowl eligible next year. Auburn will be in year 1 with Golesh, and odds are that he won't be better than a 7-5 caliber of team. Texas should be good like normal. Bama should be good like normal. A&M should be really good as long Reed returns. LSU should be a lot better with Kiffin, but there may be some early season kinks to work through.

Respectfully you’re crazy!..you seen the kind of recruits he pulled here in such a short amount of time with no track record to compare as a HC.lane kiffin is Tony V in football.relatable, protects his guys and scores a lot of points on offense it’s fun…

if you think kiffin is gonna have to try really hard to recruit at LSU in comparison to selling someone on playing in Oxford instead..I’ve got ocean front property I’ll sell you in North Dakota.
I never said that he will fail on the field. off the field is what got him fired before the 2017 Alabama championship game and caused Ole Miss to lose to Kentucky last year

The odds that GMac is better than JA are slim. If JA wants to come back, you take him back in a heartbeat.

According to who?

Not saying he did or didn't, but without being there I take camp reports (especially from VQ folks) with a grain of salt.

I will say I am in the camp that GMac can be the dude next year. Joey only had an abbreviated offseason to learn the offense and was able to run it at a high level.

I will say if either (1) Banks is retained as DC or (2) Inge is promoted to DC then Heupel should be on the hot seat going into next season. Our Defensive staff needs to be overhauled.

Thinking out loud here what if we made RG the DC?..I don’t recall anyone considering that…does he have any history as a DC?

Imagine having a fanbase so stupid that they would be dying for a head coaching change only one year removed from the cfp THIS late in the cycle. Even if you completely disregard all the good our coach has done here… Yeah let’s pick from the leftovers and scraps of coaches out there.

This is so stupid.

I missed that what happened?…was that the Kirby smart deal? Or was that someone else

I’m partially guilty
I want some new defensive coaches
But hell no I don’t want CJH gone

The RGW tweet still has me concerned

How would you know unless you play them?

And what if that means paying Joey $3 million and limiting roster spots for upgrades?

You don’t think Joey will want to raise is $1.3 NIL after the year? I bet it would cost us $2.5-$3 million to retain him now. There goes your 2 safeties and 1-2 DT from the portal.
