Anybody who bought his PR effort the last few years needs to take a long look in the mirror. Going through life that gullible can be dangerous.

Even worse are the folks that keep wanting him back here for whatever reason lol.

He has had at least two affairs with a 19 yo and a 25 yo there. One he got pregnant and forced to have an abortion. And one that was harassed and stalked and ole miss gave $$ and lifetime job to. He’s a creep who’s an above average coach.

Yes ole miss fans saying she broke up and he called and harassed her. Followed her to Dallas the week of UK loss last year. Also showed up uninvited at a family members wake and was kicked out. Gonna be a lot of ole miss stories coming out. Friends of her daughters. The 19 yo was an assistant and ole miss helped cover it up

Vitale is absolutely right. This isn’t 1965 where coaches are typically long tenured alumni and players are mostly local kids playing for school or state pride. The entire sport has just become a mega-business with the key participants being mercenaries looking out for themselves and happily willing to change course the moment a better opportunity presents itself. The reality is that very few players/coaches care even a tiny fraction as much about the school as the average fan does.

......and therein lies the problem.

CFB absolutely NEEDS to retain that homespun kind of feeling. We all know it's big business now, but the illusion has to be in place.

Once the veil is fully off and CFB is the NFL then I'm not so sure I will have any interest. Been ages since I have actually sat down and watched an NFL game. I may have one on the background-there is one on now actually-I have no clue who is playing.

Once it's gone it's gone forever man. I had hoped that there would be pieces of the CFB around for the rest of my life-maybe 3 decades. Lately, I'm not honestly sure. Not sure if it will still be around at my sunset and not sure if it's worth the energy I devote to it.

This is all the destination of a train that left the station decaades ago. It started with conference expansion, cable tv, tv rights, more regular season games, more bowls, conference championships, coaches making millions, coaches getting million dollar buyouts, and conferences starting their own networks. Anyone surprised at where we are hasn't been paying attention the past 30-40 years.

But the current version of of CFB isn’t even as sensible as a business as the NFL is. The NFL operates with a pretty strict set of rules and guardrails. There are restrictions on openly courting employed coaches while the season is ongoing. Players operate with legitimate multiyear contracts as opposed to a state of perpetual free agency where they can be stolen away by a higher bidder at any moment.

None of that currently exists in CFB. NIL and the portal have changed the sport so monumentally and so quickly that the powers that be haven’t been able adapt the rules to keep up. Everyone needs to sit down and hammer some sort of new rules for to reign in some of the craziness that’s currently going on.
