Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I feel like convincing ourselves the Heupel will let go of any staff is setting ourselves up for a letdown. He's literally never made a big coordinator move in his entire coaching career.

Say he does somehow let Banks walk, strong chance the hire to replace him will be a lackluster name that doesnt convince anyone he genuinely is willing to change.

I like Heupel. I hope he stays here a long time. But that dude is stubborn. I just seriously doubt all the sudden he decides to pivot and make moves he's never made prior.

There is a window of opportunity with all this coaching carousel stuff to fire anyone we want and get anyone we want and that window is quickly closing as head coaching hires are made and staffs get assembled. If we’re going to fire an offensive or defensive staff member, I hope we already have the replacement found and signed and simply wait to fire whatever staffer until signing day has come and gone.

Looking at you Durkin/Baker

Looking at you [insert name of offensive coordinator here]

Saw where Candy player admitted that call with the play after gave them the momentum they needed. Before then it was back and forth.

But I learned on VN that calls don’t change games.

We didn’t lose because of that call. We got whipped at home by a better prepared team. They wanted it more and we just let them have it.

I get saying 8-4 was the expectation with QB situation and injuries to corners. However, both of those spots were better than serviceable this year and none of it explains why we had maybe the worst performing safety and linebacker units in the league this year.

Memphis coach to Auburn? What a sh!t show this college coaching carousel has become. So, if this is true, now Memphis has no coach. No good coordinators out there?

Tim Banks is a candidate for the Memphis job, per the Memphis Commercial Appeal reporter.
