'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (Tennessee commit)

The point is actually to discredit the rankings themselves. Casual college football fans consider these rankings to be the forgone consensus on whether a player is going to be good or not. We're pointing out how our elite players consistently drop out of elite status because:

- It's BS

-If we keep pointing it out, maybe people will start to realize that the opinions of our coaches matter more than an arbitrary ranking system made by analytics nerds who have never stepped in a locker room before.
This post is both biased and accurate at the same time.

Amazingly.

Oh my, again, NFL draft data trumps HS stars. Half the 300 4 stars each class are passed by 3 stars when graded out over 3-4 years. HS Stars are not guarantees (see Nico) or ceilings (see the masses of late bloomers). NFL rosters prove that in spades. Portal is a newer tool to measure the fallibility of rating 16-18 year olds.
NFL has zero to do with college. So no your argument holds zero weight.

So your position is that their PERFORMANCE in college does not establish their draft stock? Four star 5th rounders say different. 4 star un drafted speaks louder!

Edited to add…..

So you still celebrate each 4&5 star 3-5 years down the road regardless of their draft position? Simply does not compute.

How else do you validate or measure the services?

Don’t know why he’d decommit. Should be a wide open path to starting with Matthews (hopefully) transferring.
Matthews is not that bad. Sure, he's had some unfortunate drops, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a big step forward next season, just like Brazzell did this season. I mean, Brazzell was not good in his first season here with us, then this year he was talked about for the Biletnikoff.

What a stupid comment. The guy is an 800+ yard receiver as a sophomore. Despite his drops, he was a more reliable target than Hyatt was as a sophomore and we saw what happened Hyatt's junior year. Be pissed about the loss, but Matthews isn't the problem and it would be really bad to lose him. If he left, don't be surprised if Staley and Travis Smith also leave. Those guys are close.

Seems no WR that leaves the Vols has much success. If Mathews walks (won't hurt my feelings),
chances are good that he simply disappears (if past history is an indication). Our WR room is
one area that seems to get better every year even though a lot of them transfer out.
