OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

A&M has been skating by all season long with their close wins and it finally caught up to them. Really caught up to them against South Carolina, Beamer is just too stupid to close out a 30 point halftime lead. They are the exact same team as last year, just having the close games fall their way this year. They are an 8-4 team masquerading as an 11-1 team. Texas just did them a favor and saved them an ass whooping in the SEC Championship.

I do think it’s funny Texas is pleaded to get into the CFP. Reminds me of Alabama last year. If you don’t have a WTF loss against Florida then you are in no questions asked. Same with Alabama against Vanderbilt and then Oklahoma. Yeah you have some quality wins but you also have a bad loss, then two additional losses on top of that. I give them a pass on the Ohio State game because that was Week 1, but they blew their chance whenever they lost to Florida and then getting smacked by Georgia. If you have to get on your hands and knees to beg for a CFP spot then you don’t deserve to get in. Try again next year.

wow, I just discovered that the Lions have more Thanksgiving Day wins than any other team. Very impressive.

Side note, this doesn’t include this year’s games.
Kind of easy to rack up wins on Thanksgiving whenever you have played nearly 30 more games than the next most team on the list. If you factor in winning percentage, the Cowboys have been the best team on Thanksgiving among teams that have played at least 10 times on that day.

Kinda rich that Steve Sarkisian done his best Nick Saban impersonation and cried and whined that Texas should be in CFP.... Beat who you suppose to beat...Florida cost you a shot not Ohio State...
Yep, the big brands are always going to act entitled in situations like these and then they will throw a fit whenever they don’t get their way. I will say, there is still a path for Texas to make it but they need 5 of Oklahoma/Alabama, BYU, Miami, Vanderbilt, and Michigan to lose today. It’s really not that far fetched for those teams to lose. I think that win last night might be enough to bump Texas over a 2-loss Utah team, which has zero wins over current CFP top 25 teams. They are 0-2 vs Texas Tech and BYU while Texas is 3-2 vs Ohio State, Georgia, A&M, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt.

OKC Thunder have started their season off 19-1, 2nd best 20-game start in history behind only the 2015-16 Warriors that ended up starting 24-0. Of the 20 previous teams that started at least 18-2, only the 1993-94 Seattle SuperSonics (lost 1st round) and the 2008-09 Boston Celtics (lost in conference semifinals) failed to reach their conference finals. I don’t bet on basketball but if I were, I would have put big money on them to repeat this year.

Besides Dallas 4 of the top 5 are NFC North.
