Another one off the board for schools with an opening
I’d be lying if I said this doesn’t worry me just a bit. If Kiffin stays, which I think he will, and Dorkowitz—who is an average coach, at best—is off the table. Then Heupel very well could be a target for LSU and possibly even Florida. So to be completely honest here: I’d really like to see a news drop that he got a bit of a pay bump.
Great site for the SEC officiating office?I lived in the Birmingham area for a year and the place is a cesspool of absolute crazy. You simply can’t believe it unless you experience it. It’s literally all they care about 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I had a neighbor that wouldn’t talk to me after he learned I was a UT grad. Obviously it’s not everyone who lives there but many, many of them are literally unhinged if they lose one game. I can’t imagine a worse place to coach. McGill thinks our fans are bad but we can’t hold a candle to the stupid tater diggers. Lord I hate Alabama.
Sorry to hear of the accident and injury to your daughter, Glitch. You and she and your whole family are in our thoughts. Hoping for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery for her and a great life.I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family. My daughter was in a bad wreck last weekend and had a badly broken wrist. She went to the hospital in M'boro and they transferred her to Vanderbilt Children's hospital. She had surgery to have 2 plates and screws attached to hold her wrist and forearm together properly. Nobody in the wreck was more injured that that, thank the Lord. She is doing better but has a long road of recovery and therapy ahead. Hold you kids and loved ones tight. Let them know how precious they are and never take a single day for granted.
They aren't really being that quiet. Their big targets have told them no. They went after Lea very seriously. It looks like he's staying at Vanderbilt. The silence there and Florida outside of rumors seems to suggest they are striking out on the targets they think their fans most want to see hired.Yea I saw someone posted that. PSU is actually my biggest fear. Of all the searches, Penn state is being too quiet, and I don’t like it.
I could be wrong, but our leadership is strong. I think we're in a good place. They aren't really being that quiet. Their big targets have told them no. They went after Lea very seriously. There are good signs, but it's also becoming more expensive to be a Tennessee fan which is putting a lot of old die-hards off. That worries me long-term. But I am just a fan who is worried there's too much money at stake right now and that's breeding a lot of things that have threatened the overall health of college sports.I could be wrong, but our leadership is strong. that all may be true. but that's an echo in a different chamber, heup will be here next yearThere are good signs, but it's also becoming more expensive to be a Tennessee fan which is putting a lot of old die-hards off. I honestly thought Gee, the ex Vandy AD who is at WVU now I think, had a great proposal when he proposed pooling media rights. But it's not going to happen due to the nature of men like Greg Sankey whose perspective really is a dollar another team in another conference makes is one stolen from the SEC. That breeds poor decision-making ultimately and.. hubris.
Blind panic is just the Tennessee way, but I don't think Heupel wants to leave. Plus, I just don't see any of the current openings as better than Tennessee right now. Sure, LSU and Florida are easier to recruit to, but they have horrible leadership. If they can't get Lea to leave Vandy, it's hard for me to see them getting Heupel to leave here. Might be time for these programs to start looking at coaches who have had success at lesser programs. Sumrall is there for the taking. Golesh. I'm sure there are some others.I could be wrong, but our leadership is strong. I think we're in a good place.
