Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I wonder if what got Billy Napier fired at Florida was the fact he just wasn't abusive enough. I don't think it was up to Florida's high standards of abusive head coaches.
I think it shows that even in the ultimate cutthroat business of big time college football, simply being nice and well-liked by the right people can go a long way.

Billy was by far the worst-performing head coach they've had post-Urban but he had the longest amount of time in the job. The best performing coach they had (Mullen) got the least amount of time, and he's pretty well-known in the industry as a difficult guy.

well according to this Florida fan just now talking to, they fired Napier because he was a arrogant prick. His words not mine

More NIL money = able to attract better players. It matters for fans too.

If NIL money wasn't involved, then I would agree that complaining about the format of a November "tournament" is silly since the point of such an event is to play good teams, and you still play good teams even if you don't make the final.
We are in a tournament where there is 1 million in NIL money to the champion. Not everyone is in this tournament. The attraction to potential prospects is the opportunity. They aren't going to be less attractive because they finished 3rd in a tournament they lost no games in. 18 teams are in this tourney. Everyone is guaranteed money.

If you win that game, that's an extra $1m for your NIL budget, which you can use to attract future players.

So what you are saying is he gave Scott reach-arounds? Metaphorically of course. I mean, get your minds out of the gutter.

No, it isn't. Why do you think it works like that? It's divided up among the members of the winning team. It's straight cash.

You act like you think it would be recurring. Why would it?

Well, Bud Elliot picked us over Vandy and he seemed pretty sure of himself. He has been right on the money about us all year, even saying we would lose against Oklahoma due to their defensive line play which turned out to be true. He thinks our WR unit will have a field day. Stated on the Cover 3 locks podcast today.

Not recurring. I read it to mean that an extra $1m goes into the NIL budget, not necessarily distributed to current players.

You're being a complete ******* in these responses and not sure why. I seem to remember having worthwhile exchanges with you in other discussions.

No, you are perceiving this discussion that way. I haven't been rude to you at all. I'm simply pointing out you are wrong. I'm sorry that affects you like this but it's not my fault.

It was predicted last night Kiffin's decision would leak out prior to Friday's Egg Bowl. Well, the natural first source of those leaks will probably be from the Ole Miss side, which appears to be happening, but Gator fans are still in denial and calling Ole Miss reporters 'smooth brains' with zero sense of irony.

I’m not sure where any of the Heupel to LSU talk is coming from but Matt Moscona and Blake Ruffino, who are both LSU insiders, put out coaching target lists late last week that LSU would go after IF Kiffin says no and neither one mentioned Heupel.

I don't either because how in the world does it make logical sense they can't hire Kiffin away from Ole Miss but could pull Heupel from us?

SEC and Big Ten are still deciding between a 14 team playoff or a 16 team playoff CFP going forward... Personally I believe it will be 16 next season...

5 schools guaranteed from both conferences
1 ACC
1 Big 12
1 Group of 5
3 at large bids...
The group of 5 should not get a playoff spot. G5 should create their own playoff.
