We only remember/care about perceived missed calls against us and never the other team. I laughed when people in here argued that the SEC was for Arkansas in basketball a few years back. I can buy the Big Dogs but Arkansas?I’m not disagreeing. I didn’t mind the officiating but I lean towards letting them play bc I like that style and it helps Vols generally.
I’m only saying if these numbers were reversed… this place would be in meltdown mode.
Anyone who watched last night’s game and thinks the refs had bias against us is simply looking for a reason to feel cheated. I didn’t really notice the refs and both Tennessee and Houston are extremely physical and difficult to referee against. On balance I would think we got the more favorable whistle. Just a great college basketball game with two teams that have final 4 potential. If the refs called every foul on both teams then college basketball games would be 4 hours long....
Those two guys along with Phillips and Abrams will be the first to bloody their noses to get a loose ball. They might have an occasional "what the heck was that pass" moment, but they will be the heart of this team. The skill positions are really good with Gillespie, Ament, and Estrella. Those three can create their shots. We usually only have one of those guys (Knecht and Chaz). Okpara is becoming a guy like Aidoo that can make buckets and free throws, but he is a better defender. I really like Burg as a leader. He is a team first guy all the way. He doesn't do anything great but does everything good and not afraid to take smart fouls and give minutes of rest to Boswell. This team didn’t blink at pressure at the end. Boswell and Carey really stepped up
I honestly don’t know how any human can referee a college basketball game. They are so big and athletic that I just don’t think a human can do it evenly. I know I couldn’t as everything is just so open to interpretation. Hardest game in the world to call fairly. Anyway I thought yesterdays crew was about as good as you could hope for.The problem is the NCAA went to freedom of movement several years back, and the officials are so inconsistent within the game and from game to game. They don’t call it like the NCAA wants it to be called, and Barnes has even mentioned it the last couple of years.
I can only imagine that all 7 people anticipating this movie, are over the moon. They finally green lit Rush Hour 4.
It’s. About. Time.
Not expecting much since we have too many soft ass people nowadays, I’d say most of the usual jokes will be dialed back a ton, BUT I’m glad they are bringing it back.
They also have probation + recruiting penaltiesId just like to take this moment and recognize the real men of genyiss, at NCAA. Meatchicken, who stole signs and cheated on route to a Nat. Literally gave up NOTH-ING.
Tennessee, who paid players year before it was legal, and worked hand in hand with ncaa, even placing itself on probation.
Is on probation for three more years.
The absolute mental dumb assery one needs to reach the conclusions here are something.
is that enough? i would argue the punishment doesn't fit the crime. it's unfortunate that flogging isn't listed. They also have probation + recruiting penalties
- Four years of probation for the university.
- A 14-week prohibition on recruiting communications during the probation period.
- A 25% reduction in football official visitsduring the 2025-26 season.
That’s why default mode should be letting them play. Fouls only need to whistled when blatant and obvious.I honestly don’t know how any human can referee a college basketball game.
