Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Let’s be honest, though, does it really matter when they can transfer immediately and be eligible?
I think it does when talking about the out for a coach leaving right after signing day. A lot of teams, especially the good ones are full so the player may not get his preferred program.

I believe he will be, the 5* QB wouldn't consider flipping from Georgia if Lea wasn't going to be at Vanderbilt..

As much as i dislike Vandy, It really is beneficial that they're decent to pretty good. Hopefully, Clark stays and keeps it going somewhat.

Playing a 2 or 3 win Vandy every year in the past gave UT no real benefit

Who ya got as your college football mount Rushmore for coaches?

Mine is based on my era of watching (90s to now)

Nick Saban
Urban Meyer
Tom Osborne
Bobby Bowden

Bob Stoops is right there too
Osborne was underrated. He knew rules and loopholes. Great tactician and famously was his own offensive coordinator for his entire 25 year run as Head Coach. Great offenses and historic run

Completely off topic but as a recovered Dallas Cowboys fan, i thought for sure with Aikman having Galloway and Ismail on the outside, our offense was gonna be unstoppable.

Turns out im almost as dumb as Jerry Jones when it comes to football.

Tom Osborne probably did it better than anyone else. Coached for a very long time at his alma mater. Never finished a season unranked. Won titles 3 of the last 4 years he was there, then went out on top at a relatively young age (60).

255 wins, 83.6%, 2 Heisman winners and 3 National Titles as a HC, part of 2 more as an assistant and a ton of awards and conference titles. Not many coaches can say I coached for 25 years and lost less than 50 games. His worst season was 9-3-1.

To me when I think of option football it's Tom Osborne and Army that comes to mind first.

Bobby Bowden's Head Coaching Accomplishments at FSU.

2 time National Champions
12 ACC Championship
28 consecutive bowl games
377 wins
14 consecutive 10 win seasons
14 consecutive seasons of being ranked in top 5 of AP poll to end season.
Won 11 straight bowl games 1985-1995
2 Heisman trophy winners.

Not too shabby ..

People don't seem to realize Clark Lea isnt a good coach. He made a good decision of hiring the NM St coach and Pavia. Those 2 things are really the only reason they're winning + their weak schedule.

If someone wants a coach from Vanderbilt, it should be the NM St coach. . .

They've played 2 decent teams and lost to both of them. They're about to play their 3rd, which is the 2nd best team they've played overall.

Tennessee is about to slap the collective taste out of their team's mouth.

I know it doesn't seem like many on here think Vanderbilt has any chance of upsetting us in Neyland this weekend but I do. I'm not saying it will happen. I'm not even saying Vanderbilt is a better team than we are. Clearly they are not. But there's a playoff on the line for them and a huge national narrative if you haven't noticed.
Not trying to start an argument in anyway...I actually want to hear your reasoning as to why Vanderbilt is "clearly not" the better team. I am actually having trouble seeing how they are not better than us...at this point in time.

I want to feel better about this game...but I keep having visions of goofy crap like in the Okie and MSU game happening to the offense, and Pavia running for 100+ and 2tds while torching our secondary for 300+ and 3-4 tds against our defense.

I want to feel better about this game..but I am having trouble seeing it..🤦

I hope so.

Pavia has rushed for 100+ yards 1x this year. 4x total in his career.

But he is much more of a threat with his arm than he ever has been.

Big challenge ahead!

Can't be true. I was told on here that Pavia sucked as a passer earlier this season...

Could've been one of the Quarterback Whisperers on here..
