These next 2 games will determine Coach Heupel’s future. Win and he will have more cushion. If not next year will be ugly. JMO
For those even thinking UT should part ways with JH!

OK I'll turn it around. Who outside the top 10 has beat us this year? All 3 teams are playoff bound!
Well unfortunately for you beating unranked teams is what a university like Tn is supposed to do. It’s kind of expected. To go any further than that you have to start beating those ranked teams you speak of. It’s kind of how athletics works. You beat the good teams to be the better team.

You saying we’re just gonna be okay with never beating a top 10 team? Weird take.

Unpopular take, but he’s not wrong, IYAM. I realize expressing what can be perceived as negativity is frowned upon ‘round these parts, and I’m pulling for him, but if we go 7-5 regular season, the rumblings will intensify, and that’s a fact, Jack.

Unpopular take, and yes he is wrong.

I love the holidays. They are a time to reflect on what we’re grateful for. I for one am grateful that fans aren’t responsible for hiring or firing head coaches based on the results of a transition year.

I wish more people could realize that this season could be worse, we have not lost to anybody we should have beat (other than GA). Our losses were all fairly close to teams that we could have beat if things went our way. Unfortunately the ball didn’t bounce that way for us this year and we aren’t a good enough team to overcome the amount of self inflicted mistakes we’ve had.

I think the poster is right. UT was 1 FG away from beating UGA. Okla was winnable. Bama - not as much. If the last two games are stinkers - and UT loses, speculation about CJH will get more critical. "He can't win big games" will only intensify. Now consider this season (8-5 or 7-6) and the strength of next season's schedule - and you could be looking at UT's "perfect storm". For the record, I hope we end 10-3 and CJH gets an extension.

Cushion? As in on the hot seat? If UT fires CJH, they deserve everything coming to them.
If CJH loses to Florida and candy in year 5 there is no way anybody could say with a straight face that this guy deserves to be the head coach of a university that has 100k plus seated stadium and gozillian dollar facilities. If he loses the two games, his seat should be so hot next season that he would think his hemorrhoids are the size of grapefruits.

Coach Heupel is so far from the hot seat and the results of the next 2 games will not change that a bit.

The same people screaming about the Heupel hot seat will be the same ones wringing their hands when they learn about the programs contacting him to be their next head coach.
Correct, he is not on the hot seat. But if he loses the next 2 games, he will be on a warm seat next year

Interesting. So, let me get this straight, if we don't win out, somehow that's going to make the team play or perform worse next season or are you saying that Heupel will be on a hot as hellfire hotseat?

Seriously, if we don't win out, sure it's a less than desirable season and coach has some work to do in the off-season.

But to think he's anywhere close to having numbered days or a questionable future is nuts. This reaction seems to be substance induced or you forgot the Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt years.

Let him lose these two and see what happens. Who have we beat this year.? Didn’t forget those years. Don’t win out and don’t get a good portal QB and u will be the one drinking
