If Shane Beamer doesn’t lose his job after that..

Frank was far from mediocre. VPI had far more sustained success under him than anyone before or since.

Stop making sense about Frank Beamers achievements. In all seriousness, I understand this is a Tennessee site and you might not like Virginia Tech as a school and Shane Beamer as a coach, but you can't deny Franks success.

Frank was one of the first I recall in college who understood and emphasized special teams.

They were very good at blocking kicks.

Didn't really follow them overall.

Beamer was the VT equivalent of our General or Bowden at FSU.

He turned their program into a fairly common household name. I grew up 150 miles or so from Blacksburg and had no clue VT even fielded a football team until I was in middle school.

In the end, they are a second rate school and a second rate program. If not for their more illustrious state partner in the Cavaliers, VT would never have been spoken about very much. Why you guys are expending so much time arguing about them is beyond me

I grew up about 10 miles outside of Blacksburg, Beemer was a fraud. He recruited some really bad guys and the school and town allowed them to get away with almost anything.

Frank was hardly a fraud. Had a career record at VT of 238-121-2. He won 7 conference championships and had 23 consecutive bowl appearances and played in a national title game. He ranks sixth in FBS history in wins.

You mean it should have been the Beamer Cup instead of the Fulmer Cup?

I have respect for any guy that created a program from nothing; Beamer is one of those coaches. That program had done essentially nothing until he became the coach. There is talent in DC/Northern VA/Norfolk, but Blacksburg, VA isn't exactly the easiest place to recruit to and he still got players.

I'm not sure why, but there's a narrative (not just here, but around the game) that Beamer was good when he had Michael Vick and sucked or was mediocre without him. Beamer's 2 best VT teams were when he had Vick, no doubt, but he had 11 other double-digit win seasons without him. He probably stayed around too long, but he's hardly the first or only coach to do that.

Having said that, his son is incredibly annoying. I'm sure that's where some of the pooh-poohing of Frank's record on this site comes from.

And played almost nobody.

There’s no way Beamer is getting canned after this season. Was this an embarrassing loss? Absolutely. But He’s probably overachieved during his time there and they’re South Carolina. Who would they attract that’s better than him in the current coaching carousel? Again, they’re South Carolina. It would be wiser to use money on NIL than having to pay a staff buyout and a new head coach and staff.

All we needed was a second half FG vs Georgia after being up 14 at home. Should we fire Heupel?
LOL yea it's TOTALLY the same thing, you really reach to defend any mediocre coach anywhere....

Maybe your "source" in the AD really soured you back in 2017 to head coaches 😂

They are considerably ahead of us in school rankings though. No dispute on their football program.

South Carolina is accepting that they will always be garbage
South Carolina might be the biggest underachiever in CFB this year. Maybe neck and neck with Penn State. Even Clemson and FSU aren't that bad.

If SC loses to Coastal Carolina this weekend, Beamer may not be around for the Clemson game.

VT actually has a decent size corps of cadets. I met quite a few officers from VT just in my time in the Army.

I really want to see the Clemson SC game as a loser finds his own way home game.
