The difference now (for Franklin) is that he's at a school that doesn't care as much. With Clemson and FSU at uncertain/not good places in their program, it wouldn't be the craziest thing for JF to win the ACC at some point.

Much like us prior to Heup, VT hasn't been nationally relevant in 15 years. Franklin will definitely get them back on the map, even if they're never legitimate national title contenders. Just getting to the point where VT is playing relevant games in November will be a huge improvement over where they have been.

If Franklin ever hit the next level in his career, then he'd be in a class with Dabo, Kirby, and Day. That's better than being a "good" coach. I'd be stunned if he doesn't make VT relevant again.
