You're not wrong, but at the moment both of those schools think they can land Lane, and would burn the campus down if they hired JF with Lane still out there. Hence they'd never hire Franklin.

VT is simply not gonna get top notch guys to Blacksburg. Even now with NIL they just don't have the money to be a big player

They won under Beamer using the Wisconsin model of being gritty, running the ball and playing stout defense

Franklin at PSU won on talent alone. They beat who they were supposed to beat and lost to who they were supposed to based purely on talent
