Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

We played Georgia close, lost because of a field goal, made stupid mistakes with Oklahoma and Alabama. All three teams are among the best in the country. This is with a team that lost Nico (and yes, he's a great quarterback--really the only reason why UCLA have won any games at all) and many of our best defensive players. Joey has been a pleasant surprise, but for the most part, on paper, an average team. I agree with Jackerol, that this may be one of Heupel's best coaching jobs. We'll see how it goes in the next two games.

Squirrel left after playing damn near every snap. It's a pointless exercise to think about that stuff.

And as a coach, you start playing 4D chess to think about who to put on the field, now your team realizes you aren't playing the guys who have earned it and you've lost the culture for a couple of players who are probably bums anyway.

I think the issue is we legitimately aren't playing the best guys at times. I have a hard time believing Telander has been better than Perlotte at any point this year.
Perlotte was fantastic
