WASHINGTON — House Democrats prevented a quick vote on legislation that would require the Justice Department to release all its files on sex predator Jeffrey Epstein, apparently hoping to keep the controversy in the spotlight longer, the GOP has alleged.

Ahead of the House vote to end the 43-day government shutdown, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) took to the floor and requested unanimous consent to immediately vote on the Epstein bill.

“I tried to get the Epstein files [bill] straight to the floor, cut out all of this nonsense and the Democrats blocked it, oddly enough,” Burchett grumbled after his effort failed. “This is politics. It has nothing to do with what’s right.”

This falls flat when you consider house Dem released a previously released email and redacted the name to try go after Trump again.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act would compel Attorney General Pam Bondi to make publicly available in a searchable and downloadable format all "unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials" in the Department of Justice's possession.

It seeks, among other things, information on Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell; individuals related to Epstein's criminal activities, civil settlements, immunity or plea agreements; any immunity deals, non-prosecution agreements, plea bargains or sealed settlements involving Epstein or his associates; internal DOJ communications concerning decisions to charge, not charge, investigate or decline to investigate Epstein or his associates; and information related to Epstein's incarceration and death.

House vote possible as early as next week.

If it passes the House, the Senate must pass the bill.

If both the House and Senate pass the bill, President Donald Trump (the dog that didn't bark) will have to sign it before it can become law.

Wait. The Dems are blocking a vote on the release after claiming for weeks that it was the Republicans slow playing and blocking it? One would think that if they actually believed Trump is implicated in them as opposed to just believing this to be a useful but baseless smear campaign, they would be in a rush to see Trump ruined. What gives?

Under suspension: The Epstein files bill could be brought to the floor under suspension, which would require a two-thirds majority to pass. If all 214 Democrats and the four Republicans who signed the petition vote in favor, there would still need to be about 70 Republicans to vote in favor for the bill to pass. There are 433 House members currently, so the magic number is 289 if all members are voting and present.

House Republicans currently project about 40 to 50 members in the conference will vote in favor. If the speaker brings the bill up under suspension, it could be considered as early as Monday night when the House returns for 6:30 p.m. votes.

So to be clear, you are arguing that Trump never told anybody anything because, post-2009, he was definitely gonna say something, but instead of informing, he paid his lawyers to look into it, and they came back and said there was no way whatsoever that the law could touch Epstein at all (instead of going to feds and telling them what he knows and asking them if anything can be done).

You have to swallow all that, and then also swallow the fact that Donald Trump could have warned everybody. It's not just about legal recourse. You guys don't think this **** all the way through. You are trying so hard to play defense you've forgotten common sense. Go public. Tell everybody what you know. You have a voice. You're a good guy, right? Right? Epstein was still operating in relative anonymity until the late 2010s.

If Trump Vetoes, it will then take a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate to override.

Workers at the Texas federal prison camp housing Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell have been fired for leaking emails in which she described the cushy conditions — and the Democratic lawmaker who purportedly made them public should be punished too, her attorney said in a fiery statement Friday.

Leah Saffian rebuked House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) over the publication of messages in which Maxwell raved about her treatment at Federal Prison Camp Bryan — even praising warden Tanisha Hall for helping her send and receive documents needed for her unsuccessful appeal to the Supreme Court.

“The congressman is a ranking member of the House Oversight [actually Judiciary] Committee, an attorney and law professor. He must be aware that his conduct undermines the whole legal process,” Saffian said. “His action should be a matter for professional disciplinary action.”

“There have been appropriate consequences already for employees at Federal Prison Camp Bryan,” Saffian went on. “They have been terminated for improper, unauthorized access to the email system used by the Federal Bureau of Prisons [BOP] to allow inmates to communicate with the outside world.

“The provision of those emails to a federal official who then caused them to be shared with the media is a breach of constitutional protections including the First, Sixth and Fourteenth amendments afforded to all prisoners.”

Goldman Sachs is standing by its top lawyer after newly released emails revealed she repeatedly trashed President Trump in exchanges with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and turned to him for career advice.

The Wall Street giant on Thursday defended general counsel Kathy Ruemmler following the release of her correspondence with Epstein by the House Oversight Committee.

The emails released Wednesday span 2014 to 2019.

Goldman Sachs defended general counsel Kathy Ruemmler following the Wednesday release of her correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein by the House Oversight Committee.

Ruemmler joined Goldman Sachs as its top lawyer in 2020 and is currently co-vice chair of Goldman’s Firmwide Reputational Risk Committee, among other roles.

Bankers inside Goldman previously complained to senior management about Ruemmler’s relationship with Epstein in light of her role on the reputational risk committee, which decides which clients the bank shouldn’t work with, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Goldman officials reportedly told the bankers the Epstein matter had nothing to do with her job at the firm and that she was upfront in disclosing her relationship with Epstein when she joined

Ruemmler, who served as White House counsel under former President Barack Obama, regularly vented to Epstein about Trump’s political rise.

The emails show Ruemmler also consulted Epstein on major career decisions, including whether she should become US attorney general in 2014. She picked his brain for advice when rival law firms tried to recruit her and when hunting for a Manhattan apartment, too.

I am not arguing anything other than to put blame/responsibility on Trump for Epstein is utterly ridiculous. You do not even know what Trump knew that was not already public (if anything) following the non-prosecution agreement. Why was it Trump's responsibility and not Obama? Why not the Clinton's? Why not GWB? Why not the FBI/CIA? Why not the federal prosecutors originally on the case?

Its Trump fault in yours and others eyes because TDS is so strong in some people that they cannot look at anything involving Trump logically.
