Stop speaking in absolutes. Nobody knewI'm fine with this. Don't want him to leave, but also won't stress about it. There are no more Nick Saban/Kirby Smart clones out there.
I’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. He said there are rumors that Heup is on the LSU list and LSU is on Heup’s short list of other college jobs.
He then stated TN fans don’t give Heup the credit he deserves, instead complaining about not making playoffs. And, TN is not a perennial playoff team yet a 3-4 loss team.
When asked he said TN is not a top six destination for head coaches. He said we would fall in top half. He also said he wouldn’t include Florida and unsure about aTm.
Surely Heup won’t get an offer but he was correct about Napier and Kelley, too, losing his job and the fact LSU trying to find just cause. He said Heup would listen to LSU.
I don’t see it but I am blinded by orange glasses- esp. when he said LSU is top six job - not TN.
Ohio state, Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas, USC, Oregon, and I think Notre Dame were his top coaching destinations.
Thoughts?
Edit- I listened to the interview again. Phillips said he’s heard Heup would entertain leaving TN and definitely listen to LSU. Plus, LSU admin is confident Heup would leave TN for LSU if offered the job. The outside noise by the minority of our fan base is annoying as apparently Heup hears the. Could you imagine him leaving for LSU and taking Brandon Faizon w/ him?
Has it occurred to anyone that Heupel may be starting the rumors himself in order to get the dogs off his back and maybe even orchestrate a raise for himself? It’s like having a woman that keeps threatening to leave you every time you ask her to do something. Sooner or later you just have to realize that if she really wants to leave there is nothing you can do but accept it. Same with Heupel if he really wants to leave then accept it and move on!I’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. Would he take a bunch of our fans with him?I’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. He said there are rumors that Heup is on the LSU list and LSU is on Heup’s short list of other college jobs.

Credit? He gets over $9 million. He needs a pat on the back?? If he’s that emotionally fragile, he 100% needs to fixI’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. If his agent is doing his job, yes. The market is going up big time this year & JH is gonna benefit from it just like the others.Has it occurred to anyone that Heupel may be starting the rumors himself in order to get the dogs off his back and maybe even orchestrate a raise for himself? Question would ESPN still give the same criticisms of his offense as being a gimmick? If Heupel leaves it's because of the talent and ease of recruiting at LSU. He probably does think to himself "Man what would my offense have put up with that 2019 LSU team". Our program is in a much better spot if he were to leave compared to past coaching searches. It is what it is.
Ok, so I didn’t add the fact he said one west coast team would make up one of his six - USC or Oregon. I can’t remember about Notre dame. The fact still remains TN is after 6-8 teams. So he has 8 jobs in his list of top 6 jobs?
LSU's media and national media don't have anything on Heupel as a possible replacement. This "chatter" is only coming from our side apparently, and maybe only this one radio station.
So the guy who hired himself as an SEC expert (he founded SEC Unfiltered) has a juicy nugget with no source. And even then the actual rumor is that Heupel would listen to someone if they asked, which I'm pretty sure isn't a surprise. He doesn't link Heupel with the LSU job even in a rumor, he just speculates that if Heupel is open to calls LSU would be an opportunity.I haven’t visited other message boards or followed college football since we lost to Oklahoma. I just heard today’s interview by chance when I was in the car.
Here is an article though from someone in the Nashville area.
