Heup to LSU noise and where does TN job rank?

I’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. He said there are rumors that Heup is on the LSU list and LSU is on Heup’s short list of other college jobs.

He then stated TN fans don’t give Heup the credit he deserves, instead complaining about not making playoffs. And, TN is not a perennial playoff team yet a 3-4 loss team.

When asked he said TN is not a top six destination for head coaches. He said we would fall in top half. He also said he wouldn’t include Florida and unsure about aTm.

Surely Heup won’t get an offer but he was correct about Napier and Kelley, too, losing his job and the fact LSU trying to find just cause. He said Heup would listen to LSU.

I don’t see it but I am blinded by orange glasses- esp. when he said LSU is top six job - not TN.

Ohio state, Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas, USC, Oregon, and I think Notre Dame were his top coaching destinations.

Thoughts?

Edit- I listened to the interview again. Phillips said he’s heard Heup would entertain leaving TN and definitely listen to LSU. Plus, LSU admin is confident Heup would leave TN for LSU if offered the job. The outside noise by the minority of our fan base is annoying as apparently Heup hears the 💩. Could you imagine him leaving for LSU and taking Brandon Faizon w/ him?
The NegaVols would be to blame. I hate all NegaVols.

Heupel has terrific support from UT’s administration. He’s building an enviable program at Tennessee. Are his wife and kids happy in Knoxville? Are their lives fulfilling? Does Baton Rouge or any of the other cities with coaching vacancies offer an appreciable improvement in quality of life? Why would CJH disrupt his family’s circumstances at this stage of their lives? Does anyone on VN have inside knowledge of the answers to these questions?

I think it's only a remote possibility Heupel would leave. That being said, there would be only one guy I would go after and I am not going to mention his name. One of my buddies that posts here may run me down on my afternoon walk with the dog 😯

I agree that I don’t think he would take the job. But I wouldn’t want to see the person that you didn’t mention in Baton Rouge. Especially with LSU coming to Neyland next year.

If that happens I think we could all agree that the minority who have been calling for him to be fired should be banned permanently from volnation

Zero chance Heup goes into the disaster of LSU with AD and Governor drama. It probably was a top 6 job before the Gov overstepped bounds.

I'm fine with this. Don't want him to leave, but also won't stress about it. There are no more Nick Saban/Kirby Smart clones out there.
You never know. When Saban was hired at Bama there was no reason to think he would go on the run he did. There was even less reason to think Kirby would be as good as he has been. It’s all a crap shoot. Do you hit the right guy in the right situation at the right time or not.

So he has 8 jobs in his list of top 6 jobs?
