Not sure what else it would be. Maybe since they went cashless they reduced the number of workers at the concessions? Either way, I have totally written off getting food or a drink in the middle of the game because I'll miss a full quarter of football. At its max capacity it never took more than a few minutes to get up and get a hotdog. Don't know what has changed, but it causes massive lines which totally clog up the concourses. Then the problem wouldn't be going cashless, it would be the UX. There is absolutely no reason to have a tip screen at a football game. No need to push a button to confirm payment either. Very easy to just have the amount display, tap to pay, done, like most card terminals out there.
Also, even when cash was allowed, I'd almost guarantee you most were choosing card anyway, so going cashless wouldn't have had a major impact on wait times anyway. Only 10% or so of payments in the USA are cash.
Also also, very very very rarely do cash people have the exact change ready and out of their pocket and ready to hand over to just "take their items." Usually it's FAR slower than the card method while you wait for them to pull out there wallet/purse, count out the bills they need, then wait for the cashier to count back the change.
So IF wait times really are longer, I think the culprit is something other than cash/no cash.
Oregon isn't nearly as good as they were last year. Look at the Iowa, PSU, and Wisconsin games. They're not a top caliber team.Indiana would be TN by two scores. They did the unimaginable and beat Oregon @ Oregon.
Why is it taking so long for people to slide a card thru the machine?
GROK estimates why they went cashless:
While the university did not explicitly detail the rationale in official announcements, cashless operations align with industry trends at major venues for several key benefits:
- Faster transactions and shorter lines: Contactless/card payments process quicker than cash, improving flow in high-volume areas like concessions during games.
- Enhanced security and efficiency: Eliminates cash handling risks (e.g., theft), reduces staff time on counting/reconciling money, and streamlines accounting.
- Modern fan convenience: Builds on digital ticketing (introduced in 2022) and supports data collection for personalized experiences, while often boosting per-fan spending.
I've been to plenty of stadiums with tens of thousands of people where the WIFI and credit card processing worked just fine. This isn't 2001 lol.The short answer, a nearly entirely concrete building with 100k+ all together becomes a big time lag zone for internet access. Wi-Fi as well as mobile working less than optimal slows down these cashless payment hubs which all have to authorize every single transaction over some form of network traffic.
I disagree with you. He said a whole lot of nothing and coach speak. But it is this that should make everyone question. I would prefer he took ownership and explained how it will change. What? Everything he said was factual. You seem to have "found" something that you were already sure would be there before you even read the quote.

Cannot believe he said that out loud. Communication and tackling are maxims of defense. Principles. If those are your two biggest issues then you are a bad defense. And he is the leader.
This defense is extremely talented (at first two levels for sure). These comments really irritate me.
They are deficient in key areas. They really can't run the ball and I was surprised to see that Lagway has been so inconsistent. I really thought he was dangerous, he seems like a liability now.If you want to stick in the SEC, Florida has every bit as much talent as Tennessee but nowhere near as well coached.
I walked to downtown to get car and was home across the river before you got out of garage.I’m mid 30’s but feel like a codger saying this. The Oklahoma game was my only game attending this year. We (four guys) sat crammed in 3.5 seats, at most, standing sideways or having to alternate leaning forward or back. The line to the Men’s was out the door, and I gave in and waited in the concession line when I couldn’t hold out any longer. It was not a fun experience (game result aside). I wouldn’t pay to do that every week, but I guess enough are willing to. I’d rather Danny focus on improving the stadium efficiencies. The cherry on top was waiting an hour in Stokely garage after the game before we got to leave campus.
