Why Josh Deserves The Criticism

I am happy to read this and respond to it, if you will research the terms of the NCAA probation and can explain them in detail to where it's clear that you understand them. And then explain how these sanctions can affect recruiting and play on the field. If you can do that, I will happily have a discussion
1-5 are not in any way related to the 2 measley less schollies we are dealing with right now. Heck, I’d bet we have 2+ scholly players that never saw the field this year. Not a valid counter.

9-3 = 10-3 80% of the time. We're better than 90% of ACC and B10 teams year in and year out.

10-win HCs in the SEC don't grow on trees.
Shhh they don't understand math, or how the new college football era works..

They are the same types who want to fire a coach for losing a regular season game in men's basketball or baseball too...

LOOK, should JH be fired? Not now.

Hell no. But, let's be honest here. It is LIKELY that we lose to Vandy and FL. IF that happens, then JH should be on the hot seat next year. END of story in my opinion. IF we lose those games, how can you lose to GA, FL, Vandy, OK and AL in 1 season and not be on the hot seat?? I mean Joey balled out. The D was good enough to win every game (barely good enough).

Play calling, clock management, penalties all killed us this year. THAT is coaching. I guaran-fkn-tee you if Kiffin / S. Payton / Harbaugh (etc) was the coach, we would be 8-1, maybe 9-0.

Fire him? And, get who?? There is nobody better out there at the moment even IF he should be fired, which he shouldn't be. Dance with the one that brought you.......

I want Tennessee to be how I was when I was a kid, dominant, feared, winning championships, and we will never get there if Josh settles with the state of things now and makes no changes. I have hope he will, hopefully this past game will be the catalyst for change.

That world no longer exist.

Bama/Auburn/ Southern Cal isn’t on probation
Georgia figured out recruiting
Clemson and South Carolina are doing better keeping their best players in-state.
Texas and Texas AM closed off the pipelines into Dallas.
LSU hired Saban and never looked back and took football serious
Northeast pipelines and dried up.
JUCO kids from Kansas and Southern Cal aren’t Chris Mims.
NIL from the 80’s-90’s that helped lure kids here is now legal.
Everyone had big buildings now dedicated to football! Thanks Doug Dickey.

Gone are the days of losing to Florida and going 11-1 and being frustrated.

You don't understand college football if you don't get how a reduction in scholarships, official visits, evaluation time, and limited communication can affect recruiting and on the field results. I'm sorry, that's just a genuine fact of how the sport works. You guys are quick to make opinions heard after having no knowledge of the facts. And by the way, it's been a reduction of 28 scholarships over the course of five years. Read things.

Just a few of the things. Ask questions if you don't understand

That isn’t why we’ve had slopfests in most of our SEC games this year. We are bad at fundamentals. You don’t have to be loaded with five stars (and if you look at composite rankings we are doing well talent-wise, anyway) to be good at the little things. We seem to have a lot of players coaches, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but we also need someone to lay down the law in preside and make sure there’s attention to detail. That’s what Cutcliffe brought and what was missing during the Randy Sanders era. I’m suspecting we have no one on defense that fits that mold and Golesh may have been that guy on offense.

Both things can be true. I just want you guys to understand why the roster is so young and not up to par. Please read and fully ingest the severity of these punishments. Ask questions if you don't understand

Our roster went toe to toe with UGA for the first time. We’ve been pushed around by them even in better years. We’ve weren’t clearly inferior to Bama, either and looked better than OU for much of that game. We really haven’t been losing games because the roster is lacking.

Yeah because our coaches put our guys in positions to win. We've been playing at a big talent difference for years, the difference is that Heupel and co are actually really good at maximizing player potential and offensive scheming. Some just don't want to admit it. We're at around 50% blue chip ratio. Georgia and bama hover around 75-80%. You can google it.

Scheme doesn’t really have that much to do with UGA’s DL being incapable of consistently whipping our OL at the line of scrimmage like they have the last four years.

And we are hilarious on third and long and YAC on defense. Like one of the worst in the nation. That’s not because we don’t have four stars on defense.

And if Tennessee wins, you'll celebrate and give the coaches and team credit for sticking it out right? RIGHT?!!
LOL the negas who all year predicted us to lose to Florida will say "they were the worst florida team in years, how could Heupel NOT win"

a line they have used to every Florida/Bama team we have beaten this decade

To the degree that one can give credit for bearing a team that just got murdered by Kentucky.
You probably should celebrate 9 wins after losing 9 starters on offense, not having a qb during spring practice, and having the highest percentage of freshmen on the roster and the lowest percentage of seniors on the roster in the entire SEC.

It's almost as if having to play around a dozen true freshmen has difficulties

Scheme doesn't have anything to do with it? You think Heupel won 11 games in 2022 based on roster talent? Didn't we lost the 38 best players to the portal not two years before that?

The silence speaks volumes. I hope it means yall are grasping what I'm putting down. Not saying Heupel is immune to criticism. Just want our fans to understand that a lot of the issues come from depth and roster issues. And if you dive a little deeper and fully grasp the gravity of the NCAA sanctions, things start to make more sense.

I’ll celebrate any win. I’m not going to act like beating Florida this year deserves a statue next to Neyland’s.

straw man argument, no one is saying that
I doubt there are many on here that have personally attended more losses to the Gators than me. Nobody wants a win there more than me. As far as the overall characterization of the season, we win that game and we still haven’t had a quality win.
