A return to the old “he’s not a fan” because he posted a contradictory thought. I’ve been a fan of UT since high school during Dewey Warren and Curt Watson days. Bu t I also attended Memphis State due to cost and location and have some allegiance to them as well. Obviously they haven’t had the history and success of UT but they continue to put forth the effort and I give them kudos for that. Now bash away
You gotta go back in time a minute or two to still be calling them Memphis State. (Pro Tip: I remember that time too).

lol…what do you suppose our record would be if we had Memphis’s schedule and played in the AAC? Even if they sneak in as an 11 or 12 seed comparing us to Memphis is apples to oranges and it always will be.

I know one thing....Memphis defense looks as bad as ours. Tulane might score 60.

Here’s the playoff field, for now

First and foremost, this would be the 12-team playoff field if the postseason were to begin tomorrow, starting with the 12th seed: Memphis, Virginia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas Tech, BYU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, Indiana and Ohio State

Who would have ever thunk it?

Neyland Stadium 102.455 fan capacity
Memphis Stadium 59,000.
Memphis ain't making the playoffs, unless they can come back they're getting their asses kicked.

How about Memphis State? Oh. Well at least it is basketball season. Oh.

Poverty program left behind by their peers in a poverty conference. Not even remotely relevant in their only real sport. Still employing 1 cent somehow in almost 2026. Embarrassing.

Still think Memphis is better than us. What an overreaction by people in this thread.
They lost to Tulane. And you'e saying they're better than us based on Tennessee losing to 3 top 10 teams, while accusing others of overreacting.

No, Memphis is not better than Tennessee. The thought is laughable.

We wouldn’t have this thread full off we are better than Memphis or Memphis is better that us if we still played them. The West tn vols fans I believe enjoyed having a close game to go to.

I said it was possible and it still could be. Maybe we’ll play them in a bowl game and find out.
We aren't falling past the Florida bowls, and Memphis will be in a minor bowl game AND it's not "possible"....They couldn't even beat UAB with them playing a back up QB and UT could've scored 70 on them if they had chosen to

Nope. I’m in Shelby County and I don’t care if we ever play Memphis in anything. And the multitude of UT fans that I know don’t care either. Football, basketball, tiddlywinks- nothing. Their fan base hates UT more than they like their own program so I see no sense in dignifying them with a game. Not worth the hassle. They can stew in their own kiddie pool.
