With all these vacancies opening up, i wouldnt be surprised if Huepel left

Yes, LSU is a top 5 job. However, the knowledge that they are perfectly willing to fire their head coach in the middle of the season once the playoffs are no longer in play, the Interim AD immediately stating publicly that they should be in the playoffs every season, and the Governor of the state publicly announcing the AD would not be making the next hire followed by the AD being fired would tell me that Heupel would have absolutely no interest in heading down there, if he were to even be offered the job.

They fired Kelly because Penn State started this coaching carousel arms race.

And the Governor correctly put the AD in the penalty box because of the two football hires he has made that got paid $125M+ to not coach at their jobs.

Regardless of all that "Stuff" going on, LSU is still a top 5 job.

With the way our fans have treated Danny and Heupel in the past few weeks, I can't say I'd blame them if they bounce.

Let's assume they do leave. Who do we target as football coach? To me you have 2 choices:

1. Alex Golesh
2. Promote an interim and wait for the right guy to emerge.
Golesh probably only comes here if Josh leaves but Danny stays. He's probably Danny's first choice. I'm not sure if that is the case if its a new AD.

Alex Golesh is not a coach that can walk into a program that is expected to elevate the program. He is perfect for a school that needs to rebuild, but he is hardly the Kirby Smart hire to take a program to new heights that Mark Richt had on stable footing.

I think you get the same nonsense (people screaming for his firing) in any big-time job. A contingent of Bama fans thought it was time for Saban to retire every time he lost a game.
I'm hopeful Danny White, Coaches Heup, Barnes, Caldwell & Elander are all here for a very long time! Been following Vols athletics since the early 80s & I cannot think of a time where the whole AD was healthier than it is right now.

If CJH cant take warranted criticism, he wont succeed anywhere. UT isnt the only program that values football. Maybe he can go to Fresno State and avoid such criticism. This is the SEC. It's part of why gets paid $9M to deal with it.

The way our ridiculous fanbase is with the crazy expectations, I wouldn't blame him for going. I doubt a lot of teams will want to wait for Lane Kififn to reject them in late January

Too many jobs, not enough quality coaches. Be careful what you wish for.
LSU has fired two coaches the year after winning a championship. You think he'd want to go there?

I doubt that's the case. Your type of criticism would go in one ear and out the other. The only criticism he's worried about would be from DW. I seriously doubt DW is hammering him with it at the moment anyway

Also Louisiana has a state income tax on top of the Governor stepping in and saying who the AD will and won't be hiring, would he really want to deal with that on top of if he's not winning he's going to get the same type of fan talk, it's part of sports.

He won’t leave for a major job if crazy ass fans are his issue. They’re everywhere.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he got some calls.
Yeah but Tennessee takes crazy to another level.

I’ve lived in Baton Rouge & nothing motivated me more to work hard than the thought of getting the “f” outta Louisiana

Youre right, Goat. No criticism is warranted. Hes doing everything right.

Step right into a pressure cooker. Yeah it will take someone that fits that place. I don't know if Heupel would last very long there either. They'd eat him alive too.
