⚽️ LADY VOLS SOCCER Thread

Tennessee is not really built to chase a game down 0-2. Ran into the hottest team in the SEC tonight, and LSU put away their chances. You hate to see such a lack of productivity on all the corners we earned, but as the commentator said, LSU has been stingy on set piece defense. Let's go get it done in the NCAA!

If we get a lucky draw, who knows? Tennessee could catch some magic!

#11/13 TENNESSEE FALLS TO LSU, 2-0, IN THE SEC TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

PENSACOLA, Fla.
— The No. 11/13 Tennessee soccer team dropped its SEC Tournament quarterfinal match against LSU, 2-0, Tuesday night at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first half, LSU (12-5-3) broke through just over a minute into the second frame when Morgan Witz found the net off assists from Jazmin Ferguson and Ava Galligan in the 47th minute. The Tigers struck again less than two minutes later, as Ida Hermannsdottir doubled the lead in the 49th minute from a Galligan assist.

Tennessee (12–3–3) generated pressure throughout the night, earning 10 corner kicks to LSU's three. The Lady Vols produced 18 total shots and three on target but were unable to break through.

Goalkeeper Cayden Norris made four saves in goal for Tennessee, which brings her season total to 45. Offensively, Devin Davis led the Vols with three shots, while Kennedy Price and Reese Mattern added two apiece off the bench.

UP NEXT: The Lady Vols return to Knoxville and await the results of the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 10.

I fell asleep but watched replay this morning.. we gotta find offense from somewhere or it's going to be a short time in NCAA tournament...what could've been without the injury to the star Striker... Can she return next season? @MAD
Think so if talking about the one score twice against North Carolina.
Think might read she back.
Is that right Mad.
But think remember she missed time with a injury.

She can come back, plus their are some great ballers coming to Knoxville for 26.

The support of this forum for these incredible athletes is awesome! Thank you!

Bottom blunt line. Joe Kirk is not a good coach and never will be. He spent 12 minutes looking at a dry erase board while his team was being eviscerated (fight or flight ?). He put undeveloped freshman and sophomores as starters and benched the juniors and seniors that got them to a number 1 ranking. He doesn't know how to responsibly develop new players. This is the SEC, not club soccer. It's real. It's not pretty. It requires gritty warriors. Smart warriors.

If Mr White is true to his high standards and I believe he is, then he must replace Kirt. The days of 'just' making tournaments as a criteria for being a head coach are over. And should be. It's a dumbed down optic that degrades the non-revenue sports. If you aren't making money, you better bring home trophies. Kirt lost a unique opportunity to win the SEC title. It was ours and Kirt changed the whole team dynamic at the most critical moment of the season. No coach in any sport does that. If we want the trophy, the championship, we need a new coach. Our analytics or stats rapidly declined /regressed when Kirt started changing the winning formula - let's see, somewhere right after the Miss State game. Joe Kirt must go. For 200k a year, we can get an incredible coach and win the title.

If he sticks to the same line up in a week, the point previously addressed will have been made. Winners don't implode at critical moments. Instead they engage and finish the quest. A complete incompetent meltdown is what we have witnessed over the past x3 weeks (NOT the players , all of these women are talented but their head coach doesn't recognize it) . It's gross.

Someone bench this guy.
I appreciate reading your comments and respect your opinion.

We earned the highest ranking in school history this season, #1 in the country. Never been done before with this program ever.

Beat UNC for the first time ever. Went out to California and beat a top 5 UCLA team. Had a draw with #3 Memphis at their house. Went undefeated at home. The lineup was very consistent all year.

Joe and staff killed it in the portal bringing 3 great strikers from other SEC schools. Unfortunately one of them got injured before the season and never played and Tennessee was on fire and we lost our star on offense.

Undefeated at home and only 2 losses the whole regular season. Defense was the best it’s ever been in all my years watching the Lady Vols.

There were so many players that did not play the second half of the season and I suspect many were due to injuries.

I love the coaching staff and more importantly the team loves them.

Joe Is the the right coach for this program.
