When are you people gonna stop looking at recruiting rankings to decide how much talent is on a particular roster?Freeze's Auburn team is more talented, on paper, than his Ole Miss teams.
In 4 full seasons at Ole Miss he had two top 10 classes. #8, #15, #16, #5
In 3 full seasons at Auburn he also had 2 top ten classes. #18, #10, #6
Freezes Auburn team still has more talent than Heupel has.
Freeze's problem at Auburn is singular. He didn't get a QB from the portal before the 2024 season and he went with Jackson Arnold for this season. It really shouldn't be shocking to anyone that Arnold isn't good. It isn't like he was a backup at a prior school and therefore an unknown commodity, or killed it at a prior school and is inexplicably struggling at Auburn. He stunk at OU last year and looks exactly the same at Auburn. At some point you have to move on from a guy's star rating and just concede that the evals were off and he isn't good.
Their defense is actually pretty good. It's absolutely unbelievable that the most points they've given up in any game this year is 24, but they're 4-5. If Freeze was able to have gotten or developed just an average/replacement level SEC QB instead of the ones he's had, they might be undefeated. Seriously.
like make up what ratings you want, so that you can over-or-de-emphasize how good a team is based on the latest results? When are you people gonna stop looking at recruiting rankings to decide how much talent is on a particular roster?
That thought process is way outdated. You need to come up with a current evaluation metric.
I don't have one. That's my point. Nobody can truly judge the current overall talent on any given roster. This current climate came on before all the gurus could make the adjustment. But, to suggest HS recruiting class rankings can tell you what a roster truly looks like is insane.like make up what ratings you want, so that you can over-or-de-emphasize how good a team is based on the latest results?
if you have a fair system that we can use, I would love to see it.
Honestly, my biggest fear here is that Franklin goes to Auburn. He has the right level of douchery to be highly annoying there.
Except the Kentucky job is not open. Stoops isn't getting fired and I sincerely doubt he retires.I think Franklin woudl be better off at UK because it's basically Vanderbilt again. He would beat all the teams they should and still lose to the good team but he would bring some excitement a while. The problem with Stoops is even in his 2 best years he still dropped games to teams he shouldn't have, Franklin generally is better at that. He just can't beat the best teams he plays but UK alredy can't so no change there. And less pressure at UK than a place like Auburn.
insane, but the best option we have.I don't have one. That's my point. Nobody can truly judge the current overall talent on any given roster. Make the playoff. That means you are a top 10 team. Do that 3/4 years I'll be 100% pleased. 2/4 ok. Less then that you got to goinsane, but the best option we have.
wins don't reflect talent.
poll rankings don't reflect talent.
just wait 4 years to see who gets drafted where?
until we have a better, objective system, I am offering the most widely accepted option out there.
