Let’s say the vocal idiotic minority gets their wish

Right. Why are we even talking about this? Josh Heupel is Tennessee’s coach for the foreseeable future. Because he’s a fantastic coach. Just because a bunch of mouth-breathing weaklings come on here to throw a fit because they haven’t learned how to handle disappointment like adults, that doesn’t make this a viable topic.
There’s a world that isn’t terribly unlikely where he is gone next November. Not the most likely outcome, but I’d say it’s more likely than us making the playoff next year.

I’m pretty sure you’re gonna be disappointed. White signed Heupel to a six year deal this summer. He ain’t paying JH almost $40mil (4x$9mil) not to coach. Randy Boyd, Dante Plowman & Danny White know the challenges this staff had during years 1, 2 & 3 even though our brilliant fan base don’t. Josh will get time to recruit & play a full team without the “NCAA gonna shut them down” stories used by SEC opponents.

People dead set against Huepel getting fired breathe more life into the “Huepel fired” talk than the 4 numbnuts that actually want Huepel fired.

(It’s not even close to happening, so…)

Carry on with the rage bait, straw-man scenario.

Why sweat something that hasn't happened and certainly won't this year? Guess speculation is entertaining, but it has no basis in reality. White is not firing his guy unless the wheels fall off and the bottom falls out AND someone holds a gun to his head....and even then it probably won't happen.
It’s in the national media. Herby and others are addressing it. It will be discussed going forward now for the immediate future due to a small group of crazies.

I can’t decide who’s dumber. Ohio State fans last year after losing to Michigan or our fans presently
Ohio State fans knew they had national championship talent and were for some reason uninspired until that Michigan loss. They went on to win the title after their fans pitched a bitch about that. Now they're number one in the nation again with that championship roster. Totally different scenario. Other than the pissed off fans.

And due to the non crazies that bring it up on behalf of the crazies. Like this thread.

If we go 7-5 this year and 6-6 next year with 9 SEC games plus Georgia Tech on the schedule, I don’t think he is gonna be here in 2027. I don’t think you can make enough excuses to save him when we are watching what other teams are doing in this current climate.

I hope it doesn’t happen, but I’ll be honest with you, there is a world where we go 6-6 next year with a team that would beat his 2024 playoff team on a neutral field. He is no longer getting the benefit of a light schedule, and we are going to have to beat teams of a caliber that we haven’t beaten since 2022 if we are even going to get to 8-4.

OSU had 4-5 straight years recruiting in the top 2 or 3 last year AND this year. They never had the NCAA investigating their program during that time either. High school kids have lived their lives seeing OSU in playoffs, Rose Bowls etc not averaging 6 wins a year like the Vols did.

OSU whipped Oregon even more convincingly than they did Tennessee. It was an amazing achievement to even make the playoff LY with a roster developed during the time Tennessee was weathering.

And the vocal minority is just that. The minority. For the umpteenth time, Josh needs to tweak his staff but he is NOT getting fired. The only way he is gone is if he decides to leave on his own and I don’t see that happening. I don’t know why the vocal minority can’t get that through their thick skulls.

The crying to start threads like this is just as bad as the vocal minority. As you mentioned, Heupel isn't going anywhere however he is not above criticism. There has been numerous questionable coaching decisions and this team continues to be on the wrong side of errors especially compared to decent opponents. Discipline and fundamentals are concerning.

Back to the original point. This thread is also like a temper tantrum.

Saturday was a classic case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. We were playing at home yet missed FG, fumble return for touchdown, 1st half domination yet still losing, and probably a puzzling onside kick. This doesn't include out thinking themselves on play calling or not adjusting quicker to OU only effective running play - the QB run.

Everybody will have a tougher schedule next year. This year, Texas & OM SEC schedules aren’t any tougher than Tennessee’s. In fact they probably aren’t as tough. Only difference in OM is they got LSU & sc, Tennessee got Alabama & Vandy. Clear winner Tennessee. Texas got Texas Am, Tennessee got @Alabama. Texas has a shot at home vs Aggies. It’s tough for anyone to beat Bama in Tuscaloosa

Hilarious lack of self awareness. This is the post you make when calling for other’s to act like adults. Try a little harder.

Randy Boyd and Danny White are world class operators as is Josh Heupel. There are no serious informed donors or fans whining right now - just a handful of message board flunkies.

Never is a long time and hard to predict. It is a waste of time to think Josh is getting canned right now but I’ve seen numerous threads about “If it happens, who can we get?” What is up for discussion in the absolute need to tweak the coaching staff as there is some dead wood there. Now if he chooses to stay loyal to his buddies, well……..
Other than fooling around about Grudes, I agree, Josh ain't a leavin' anytime soon. He does need better support around him though - so hope he gets that message

And I don’t believe mediocrity is a good term for Josh’s tenure considering what he took over. His record along with a playoff berth last year don’t scream mediocre. As someone said, mediocre was UT from 2007 to 2022. We are a far cry from that.
You're right, depends on one's definition of words. I thought we SUCKED under Butch and Dools, so 3-5 losses now is mediocre in my book.
