Never coming back to Neyland

I'm not.

However, @VolfaninBama400 , if you'll provide me an email address and you're interested, I will contact you about giving you some tickets to the New Mexico State game, no charge, in a section where the folks around you are vetted and fantastic. I'd hate for this experience to be your last one and your wife's only one.

Let me know if you're interested.
Tried to message you on here but can’t. Let me know if you can message me. Thank you for the offer…

I find the games to be much more enjoyable on my big screen than in person.

Spectrum is even showing some college games in 4k. I thought something was wrong when there weren’t commercials during the timeouts. Anyway, One game a year or even every other year is cool with me. Occasionally go to Columbia when we play USCjr.

I made this account to partly share my frustrations. I’ve been a huge vol fan my whole life. I grew up going to the games. I graduated from there. I finally got the opportunity to take my wife to a game in Neyland this last Saturday and I was so excited for her to experience it for the first time.

Leading up to the game everything was fairly normal until we actually got in the stadium. We had pretty decent seats in the lower bowl behind the Tennessee bench (but not the premiums). We had an older couple behind us (likely mid 60’s) arguing the whole game and cussing at each other. Fairly annoying but we ignored it. Big game.. Night game.. people drink.. whatever.

Before halftime we both felt this rush of fluid on our back. We turn around and the older woman is throwing up all over us and into a bag. It gets all on our jackets and clothes. all on our seats. Instead of the “wtf” we try to be nice. It happens, we go to the bathrooms and clean off best we can. We tell the stadium personnel that throw up is all on our seats we need it cleaned or can we find another seat. They essentially laughed at us. Said good luck finding another seat here (because it’s sold out)

We were without a seat the whole second half. Had to find a concourse area to stand and watch the whole rest of the game with throw up on us after paying $900 for seats. While standing in the concourse a younger woman rushes out throwing up and hitting our shoes. So that’s the Neyland experience these days? Pay $900 for two tickets to take your wife for the first time. Get thrown up on twice by unruly fans who can’t handle their alcohol. Lose your seats halfway through the game because vomit is all over them, and the stadium personnel can’t help you they just laugh.

My wife never wants to come back. And frankly I don’t either.. almost $1,000 for that. And to lose. Come on…

UT ticket office has reached out to me but I doubt they reimburse or do anything about it.

Just venting… I know it could be worse but I really was hoping for a great experience for her and some of our fans ruined it. Neyland is a place where I eventually wanted to get season tickets, bring our future kids too, etc. and Saturday wasn’t the best first impression on my wife.
This type of thing is echoed not only at Tennessee games but at all sports venues of all types. This experience could have just as easily described what happened at a Bama game, an LSU game, a Georgia game, a Lakers game, a Nashville Predators game, a Braves game, and on it goes. It's a product of a culture devoid of restraint and moral accountability. I long ago quit going to games once I took my little boy to a college game and there was nothing but drunken diatribes of an immature college student that ruined the entire experience. Such is life. I stay now with a group of friends for a planned event where we all know each other or just watch it quietly with a beer beside me and a bag of chips in the confines of my own home. I guess the main points I want to make in response are twofold. We all need to follow Jesus more. And your experience isn't a "Tennessee" thing but, rather, an epidemic problem across our country. God bless you.

To the OP, after reading your post, I don't blame you nor your wife for the way you feel. You and your wife were nicer than I would've been if I had to deal with the bickering of a drunk couple followed by being thrown up on and having your seats messed up. And then being forced to having to stand the rest of the game because it sounds like that stadium personnel wouldn't even try to find you other seats. Some fans on here act like they're entitled and owed something when they gripe. But you and your wife have a legitimate reason to be upset. Sorry you both went through this and don't blame either one of you for how you feel.

My Dad, older brother, younger brother, and I went to a UT game years ago. It was against Wyoming, and don't worry, not the 2008 game where we got beat. This was one of the ones we won in a blowout. Anyway, my Dad and little brother sat in another section. But my older brother and I set behind this young drunk man and woman, they came in drunk and were lit like a Christmas tree. They would be loud and obnoxious, and standing up and dancing in front of us. Then they put on a show by making out in front of us. I thought that was a bad experience with drunk fans, but yours and your wife really takes the cake.

FWIW…

My tickets are in the upper bowl, but they are right at $1200 for the whole season.

I have gone to roughly 50ish games in my lifetime. Crazy coincidence, but someone also threw up in my seat. The ushers got someone to clean it up. I also contacted the ticket office this morning, and they are going to clean it more thoroughly before the NM St. game.

I hope that provides some perspective. Sorry that all happened on your first trip.

First off, we are not in our f&@&ing mid 60’s, we are mid d@mn 40’s thank you, and I was f&@$ing angry because my old f&@$ing lady wouldn’t let me have the d@mn aisle seat.
Second, my wife ate a bad f&@&ing Smoky dog and it upset her stomach.
Third, we could see much f&@$ing better from your $h!tty seats, thanks for letting us use them in the f&@$ing 2nd half.
Go Vols!!

I've been to Baton Rouge once and I thought I was going to die. I wound up skipping school in 2005 (my sophomore year in high school) to go down there for the monday night game after Katrina. I thought I was going to die when LSU started their victory laps at halftime up 21-0 and then I thought I was going to die walking out of the stadium to our car wearing Orange.
Yeah Tiger fans are always incredibly drunk, like ALL of them 😂... night games very, very bad…

Lol.. when I read it I was like ‘couple arguing’…yep, when you have been married for a long time that tends to happen.., a fight meh, cussing meh.,, but puking ummm no 😂 gross… when you have that many people in one place there are going to be some weirdos who don’t know how to act… the vast majority of our fans don’t behave like that, though

The drunks who do not handle their inebriation are a problem.
Where is the law enforcement when it comes to the ordinance about public drunkenness. It needs to be enforced on people like this, at least for the fact they destroy the atmosphere for so many people at every game. Maybe there isn't a paddy wagon or a paddy train big enough to hold all these people, but people go there and realize there is no repercussions for their lawlessness.

For those of us who know…ALCOHOL has been society’s biggest, most destructive entity we have. No question about it. And usually the offender will defend their right to poison their bodies regardless of the death, destruction, and devastation it causes to others ….ESPECIALLY to their children. I’ve been thrown up on multiple times at Neyland. It’s a scourge on our society. JUST ASK A CHILD OF ALCOHOLICS!!! But alas….it will unfortunately continue to cause shamefulness at events like this we must endure 🤷‍♂️.

You know you have a problem when you can't go to any event unless you have your drug of choice with you. Can't go on a boat, can't go camping, can't go to a football game, can't go to get together, can't go to a bonfire, can't go to a parade, the list goes on forever. It's honestly sad how many people are bound by the drug of choice.

My most frustrating part, besides the 40-50 minutes it took inside the stadium to get to my seat, was the fact that 50% of the section I was in sat the entire time and acted like they were at a cricket match. Come to yell or gtfo.

You should’ve knocked that man out. Like the song says. I’m gonna knock you out. Mama said to knock you out.

I agree. It’s to the point now unless it’s a local high school or FCS football game, I refuse to attend any SEC, NFL, MLB game due to drunk fans either getting sick and/or trying to start fights. That and paying the average price of an average cross country airplane flight to park miles away, eat overpriced concessions and sit in cramped seats. Therefore the days of attending a major sporting event is over unless someone wants to offer me a free luxury box to watch the game. The 77 inch OLED tv is much more inviting especially with the kitchen and bathroom steps away.

Man, I think you just won the craphole gameday experience lottery. It's an anomaly like getting struck by lightning and thereafter being afraid to go outside. Get back in the saddle and put on more steam.

I guess it just is what it is. I’m not going to pretend I’ve never had a few and been buzzed inside the stadium, but the acceptance of people being completely wasted at football games is ridiculous.
I can't imagine paying $500 a ticket and getting drunk enough to throw up.

And how are these people getting home, that's the scary part.

people must not get out much. I get that this experience was EXTREMELY unlucky and I'm sympathetic towards that. but I grew up around Cleveland Browns games when they famously stopped selling alcohol after the 3rd quarter due to the levels of drunken unruliness.

it's not just the NFL it's even worse in college. I've seen people have piss thrown on them in Gainesville. I've been to UT games where I've had full cups of Jack and Coke spilled all over me after Tennessee scores a touchdown and the drunk next to me throws his hands up forgetting he has a drink in his hand.

I've had glass airline bottles hit me in the head and one time a girl rubbed her tits in my face for good luck because I told her I had a lucky face.

absolutely none of this is new and my experience goes back to the late 80s.

football draws a different class of person.

if you want a stress free experience I would try MLB games or buy tickets higher up in the stadium.
Vomit on you or tits in your face. One is not like the other.
