If We Beat Florida & Go 9-3 Is The Season Still Acceptable?

It would be good to build on. Beating Florida in the Swamp is always a tall order,
but they have an interim so it's possible we could catch them.
We cannot underestimate Vanderbilt this season.
New Mexico State should be a cakewalk.

Go Vols!

I think so, what say you?

We would’ve beaten a Florida team on the road for the first time in over 20 years, have our best recruiting class as of yet (if everything holds up) and make it out with a 9 win season with a chance to win 10 in a bowl game.
Sort of. Sure, we were all expecting 9-3 at the start of the season anyhow. But the UGA game I think shifted the expectations higher and the way we beat ourselves in that seemed to provide us room for growth.

Fast forward to Bama and much more of the same failures, just more severe. Last night was almost as painful as Bama to watch and it was embarrassing at times. Three losses all of which seemed very winnable.

Sure, players made big mistakes on offense, but we have a larger scheme problem and lack complimentary football. That's coaching.

I would like to see staff changes from CJH, but after my research I have not found an instance where he has dismissed assistants underperforming, citing a strong belief in staff consistency.

The quality of UF’s team when we play them ( no matter where we play them but especially in Gainesville) has never mattered. UT has lost to many bad UF teams.
It's mind boggling that some self proclaimed experts don't understand this and say it means nothing because they suck. Lol. Some people just want to be mad.

This will be the worst team they have fielded in years, if not decades, that we will play in the Swamp
It never has mattered and if you can't see the importance of winning this game then I've been wrong about you all these years. 😀

We have to win that game.

I predicted 7-5 before season in a thread in the Zone. Although I was never a fan of Nico, I thought losing him was gonna put us in a real hurt. Anyway, blah blah blah. Beating the gaters in the swamp is a must for me even if its a forfeit.

A loss and its like my wife cheating on me. Ill do my best to forgive and move on, but it all changes. Errthanges.

No for me. They lost a must win game at home due to lack of execution from players and some bad in game coaching which has happened all season. Lagway may run wild. Looks bigger and faster than our lbs. I'll be watching but I wont be surprised at an ugly loss.
Lagway will be shedding would be tacklers like raindrops off a freshly waxed car.

Breaking Vanderbilt’s heart would make me happy, easing some of the sting from Saturday. Vanderbilt needs to be reminded that they are still Vanderbilt.

Florida sucks and is not ranked however I see 100% they still win.
They're more talented than we are overall. They're much better now that Napier is gone. He was the limiter on their throttle. They're gonna beat us up down there. What's left for Pavia and the boys remains to be seen. Biggest question is how does this team respond now that the playoffs are out of the picture? From what I've seen of this staff and roster, I'm not optimistic about our response.

I mean i think we have to win all remaining 4 games because who wants to lose them? But this season is officially a bust. Nothing to write home about.

If we finish 10-3, people will act like this was some great season when we didn't really do anything of significance. Didn't contend for Atlanta, Didn't contend for the Playoff, didn't get a winning record vs our big 3.

A 9-3 record now really has zero accomplishments in it. Spoiling Vandy's playoff chances is a sentence that shows how much of a bust this season has been.

I predicted 9-3 with losses to UGA, Bama, and OU. The season is still on track. This was supposed to be a rebuilding season. We lost a chunk of talent. A majority of the team is freshmen and sophomores. 2022 spoiled many folks.

The simple answer is yes.. 9-3 was the ceiling IMO for the year anyway. I think they somehow split the last two games and do 8-4 though..

Why do you care if people act like its some great season? For a season I expected to only win 7 games and we end up 10-3 with a bowl win, beat the gaters in the swamp and have a good recruiting classes for 26? I'd see that as a great season. Not as good as I wanted but everyone with any common sense knew it was going to take time to dig out of the hole we were in.....nevermind. I know to some its endless excuse.

If we lose to the gaters and Vandy I'll do what most should do but wont.

I personally believe we will have a great recruiting class regardless of a 7-5 or 9-3 regular season finish. Money reigns supreme. That's my honest opinion Behr. Not trying to beat a dead horse here. But after Saturday night, I'm pretty much checked out. I want us to win out, but then again, it will just be a season filled with "we went 10-3, shoulda been 11-2 at minimum.

We can all chit in one hand and want in the other but until somebody here figures out a way to change it and does, we'll continue to see more bishing and moaning instead of level headed discussion. Which Im not complaining about the complaining, lol. Its entertaining if nothing. But as the pretenders like to say "Im a realist".

I’m fine with it. I’d love to beat Fla in the swamp but I don’t know that we can. They dang near beat GA. We def ain’t gonna win it making a bunch of boneheaded mistakes. Could we just play solid fundamental football is that too much to ask for

Let me ask You a question. If UT loses to Florida (always does) and Vandy (clearly better than UT this year) Is that Acceptable?

Missing the playoffs is a failed season.

That doesn’t mean we should fire everyone or that we suck or the program is dead. All it means is we need to set a standard and when we don’t live up to the standard it’s a failure.

I’ll be at the games the rest of the season cheering just like before but technically speaking the ultimate goal for the season is over.

We failed but how we respond to failure matters.

Not acceptable at all. This is year five of this staff. It's playoffs or bust. Losing twice at home is a bad look as well.
