Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

And I've asked how long should it take. We are in year 5. We looking at 5 years more, 10 years? I'm not getting any younger.
My guess is no one in ‘51 would have imagined we were 47 years away from the next one. So who knows?

I think the odds are against me seeing another title. Personally, I’m trying not to make that the only acceptable goal. That’s not easy in the playoff era.

Next year looks to be another "rebuild" as we lose a lot a crucial positions including breaking in a new QB. It will most likely be a redshirt or true freshman qb. Doubtful we make noise next year. So if we don't make it next year, that means 2027 should be the year, correct?
Then what’s your preferred alternative? It’s easy to complain but what’s the answer that’s better?

I thought of Morris, Merrit, Travis Smith, Brame. If those guys aren’t part of the exodus then I’m good. GMac is in prime position to start next year, Merk may leave and it’s not ideal for Brandon to start day 1.
Dye, Utley, and Campbell need to play more on the D-Line.

I'm not expecting a title either. It's extremely hard. We probably don't spend the money to do it.

I think it’s more likely Lewis leaves and it’s the Bishop/Morris show next year.

I may be in the minority here but I like Lewis. He’s a tough/physical runner and has seem to settle in some. Think he tried to impress too much early on with Star nipping at his heels for RB2. He’s found his role IMO. Be a 215lb ball of muscle that opposing DBs hate to tackle.

I'm not suggesting anything. I would hope Josh would recognize where his weaknesses on the staff are and correct those. I can't seem to get a clear answer. It seems to me I'm being told that 7-5, 8-4, 9-3 should be the norm with an occasional better than that and that I should be ok with it. Is that your opinion that fans should just accept that?

Ya, if Faizon is all he's cracked up to be, and this amazing recruiting class has a year of experience. And hopefully some staff upgrades between now and then...

Take out 7-5 and that will very soon be reality for every program in this league, save for maybe a select 2-3 (and I’m not even sure of that).

We’d have to find a football Tony Vitello to be exempt from it.

As we are seeing today on VN, it will be a real wake up for many fan bases. Thinking your team will make playoffs every year is just not realistic with 9 game schedule. All SEC teams now have money. Every game is a fight. Very few blow outs or easy conference games any more.

I’m hearing we will have more leave than expected but we will likely return more that we thought would be for sure gone. Could be very interesting late this year.
So we’ll have more leave than we thought but at the same time have more stay than we thought? I might be an idiot because I have no idea what this means lol.

I'm not sure I follow/understand.

How can we have more leave than expected but also return more that we thought were gone?
