Tennessee Lady Vol News

I realze I am old when I read that ESPN has hired Dee Kanter as a rules analysis, as she retired after last year at (65). I had several conversations with her the first time when she was referring her first SEC tourney and she was still working for Duke Power. Also rode the plane back from the final four at Minneapolis and we discussed the difficulty of having only two refs for such games.

Hope Ruby learns a life lesson from this and makes better decisions going forward. This dismissal has shown the rest of the team and women’s college basketball world that there is a standard to be upheld to be a Lady Vol. It’s a privilege to be a Lady Vol and not the other way around. Nobody is more important than the team.

It appears Coach gave her an opportunity to share the WHOLE picture and best case it was not enough. Hate to lose her versatility, but risk/reward is what it is.

Does she have a shot to play at any level this year? Not a clue!

I thought Dee was a solid ref.

Simple possession of marijuana arrests

In Tennessee, simple possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor, and the penalties can be severe. For a first offense, the penalties include up to 11 months and 29 days in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, and potential suspension of the driver's license. Subsequent offenses carry harsher penalties, including mandatory minimum jail time, higher fines, and longer license suspensions. Casual exchanges of marijuana with another person without an intent to profit are also considered misdemeanors.

The legal treatment of THC varies depending on its form and concentration. Delta-9 THC is treated identically to marijuana possession, while Delta-8 and Delta-10 THC are treated similarly to Delta-9 THC, especially if they are derived from cannabis or have psychoactive effects. THC concentrates, such as wax, oil, or edibles, can lead to more severe charges.

The impact of simple possession of marijuana on criminal history calculations under the federal sentencing guidelines is significant. Federal offenders sentenced for simple possession of marijuana in the last five fiscal years have been declining, with the District of Arizona accounting for nearly 80% of all federal marijuana possession sentencings since 2014.

Jail time is possible as Tennessee has harsh penalties for Marijuana but they love their licker all the whisky, tequila, vodka that you want just don't be drunk in the car. You can tote it all over town. I'm really sad for her, but her decisions seem to expand an attitude of not caring. A terrible distraction hope we can move on quickly.
I realize these are the rules. I just don’t agree with them. I would save prison space for those who commit what I consider to be real crime.

Coach Kim Caldwell.....What a gal!

You don’t get or maybe don’t want to get the big picture of the necessity to punish people, in this case player, who continues to ignore rules, regulations, laws etc. If one allows people one loses complete control of the culture of any organization, it allows the basic foundation of structure to collapse. I strongly support the action Coach took in this case.

I never said she shouldn’t face consequences. I said I don’t agree with the law/

Where has the 5 for 5 eligibility discussion gone, and would any of our SR be eligible by proposed standards?
“The NCAA's standard five-year eligibility rule remains in effect, allowing athletes four years of competition within a five-year period. Despite ongoing discussions about a potential "5-for-5" rule (five years of competition) and several lawsuits challenging the current system, the NCAA has stated that the current rules will stay in place through at least the 2026-27 academic year. The future of the rule is uncertain, potentially influenced by ongoing legal cases and potential future policy changes.“
