Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Rushing offense last night.

35 carries for 63 yards.. I'm not a College graduate but I know that's totally unacceptable.. less than 2 yards per carry..good grief.
Yup their interior DL owned our interior OL. That was pretty much forecasted by most. Pendleton and Moe are good, but their missed assignments and being good but not great have been evident.

Let’s not encourage this conversation, as much as I agree with the point you’re trying to make.

Nobody should be clambering for heupels job. Criticize him, yes absolutely? Demand he make changes needed to correct ongoing issues, yes absolutely. That’s it.
Exactly what Ollie Lane and Todd Kelly Jr. were saying this morning.

Dang, well from our viewpoint it sounded like the crowd was on fire. I yelled my guts out on every defensive play. I guess the people who can afford $500-$1000 tickets don't care about making an impact. Not talking about you, I just wish more of our psycho redneck fans could come to games.
I keep running into this. What is it? HUBRIS, once again! Greed inevitably leads to ruin. I think it's why Jesus said those guys never find God.

College football is fun. I want to win every stinking game, but I stopped letting it dictate my life. Glad I made the change. Watching my daughter get excited for the game and demand the band play Rocky Top so we can sing at the house was all it took to make yesterday a great day for me. She was a mess when we had to make her go to bed during the second quarter.

Also glad because I see on social media and on here how angry grown men are over a game. Makes me wonder what it would be like if we all collectively put that energy towards making lives more enjoyable and livable for ourselfs and our neighbors.

Just Sunday musings. Go Vols, y'all be good. Should be a fun one this weekend.

Yeah me and my 16 year old went to the game last night. First game we made it to all year. The older they get, the harder it is to make the games. While we were disappointed with the outcome, I made it a point to give the kid a hug before we got in the car and tell him how much fun I had roaming around campus and the stadium. Win or lose, laughs were had and memories were made.

Before I had kids, my favorite team losing would ruin me for days. I'm embarrassed to admit that now.

I once sat in weather so cold I had to wear layers and use hand warmers and gloves to watch us LOSE TO VANDERBILT in Neyland. There was actually nothing at all fun about that experience so I'm glad yours was better.

Oline was manhandled last night, Joey was seeing ghosts from the hits and there were few holes for the running backs. The dline did not have the success you would have expected going against 2 freshman tackles either... just s poor overall performance from both lines of scrimmage
Defense played better overall than it previously had but I think that’s because OU offense just isn’t good. Our dline against their horrible oline was very disappointing.

He’s a really good coach, he just hasn’t grown at all IMO. He won’t make hard staff decisions either. I want him to get better. I don’t want a change at the top.

We’re mostly all better people on sundays than saturdays. At least for me, it has come with the territory of being a life-long volunteer fan.

When Auburn fires Freeze, Heupel needs to be on the phone two seconds later and get Durkin to come be our defensive coordinator, and tell Timmy so long. Auburn defense is elite. I would suggest they’re probably the best in the SEC. We would be undefeated if we have their defense.

Disappointed in the outcome last night and while Max G isn’t the reason we lost, we’ve got to find a more reliable kicker. Games come down to big kicks all the time and the guy just doesn’t have what it takes. I’m sorry but he doesn’t. He looks scared to death when he goes out there, even when it’s not for a game-winner. I wouldn’t trust him at all with a game on the line.

I think benching the 3rd most accurate kicker in Vols history (min 9 attempts) would be foolish just because he has eyes the size of an owl.

Kid is a redshirt sophomore with NFL potential by the time he graduates. Last I checked he's the FBS leader in points per game.

It's normal for college kickers to miss kicks. To argue he can't make high-stress kicks ignores all the times he has. Last year and this year (including nailing the 48 yarder with 30 seconds left last night). We have a tendency to forget that stuff but remember him barely missing the winner against Georgia (after getting backed up because of Sham's stupid false start).

Let's let the kid continue to grow as a young man and player. He's not even halfway through his collegiate career and is statistically very good.

L in the swamp at this point is pretty much a given, but everyone needs to brace themselves for the fire and pitchforks that will come out when we lose to vAndy at home to finish the season, and Pavia's checks his mouth wrote preseason, get cashed... gonna be bitter...

No thank you, I would rather not employ a coach that has a dead player on his resume.
