so your willing to put up with this mediocrity for 3 more years just because he won’t a few games here and there! Let’s not forget that he’s one of the top paid coaches in the country but has not won anything of real relevance other than the scoot the poop award!
So mediocrity is 43-18 replacing a guy that had just went 16-19 and becoming the 6th coach in 11 years at a school that was facing a huge loss of scholarships with a looming NCAA battle to fight. The butt of jokes from coast to coast.

If so that what would this be called… Having 11th highest winning percentage of active coaches at 73.3 % (72.9 at just Tennessee). As a program Tennessee is coincidentally 11th in all time win percentage. And, correct me if I’m wrong, but take a wild guess who is tied as 11th highest paid head coach? Number 11 seems to be the common theme. And what more could be expected really? Sure we want to progress as a program and as a brand. But you have to walk before you can run and Pruitt left us literally handicapped.

Have perspective. Use logical thought process like a grown man instead of being a reactionary child every damn week.

Am I pissed about last night? For sure. To be honest I’m still more upset with his incredibly ignorant coaching decisions at Alabama. The truth is, crying and stomping your feet doesn’t help anything or add any substance to this forum. It’s ridiculous to throw a hissy fit every time we lose a game since the beginning of the internet.

And that’s all I have to say about that. Well crap, now that phrase just triggered more internal rage. I shoulda just went to church early this morning. But nah I’m not doing this today. Ill shut up on this topic. Not gonna continue to try and force some people to have common sense. At this point it would be hypocritical of me because no rant by me will make that lightbulb turn on. It’s clearly out and probably has nothing to do with football. But whatever. Not touching that part tho.

Please repost after you sober up. 🍺
I believe he will. He turned us around much quicker than expected. He has growing to do, but looking at the QBs/players he is putting in the NFL I believe he will continue to grow, get better and better talent, and eventually win the chip. I think all signs point to that direction at some point.

I do question many of his play calls. He seems to choose runs up the middle for 2 yards at the most inopportune times, there is little creativity in the run game. And there are times they need to slow the F down, you have a friggin multiple score lead in the 4th quarter and he is still running a hurry up offense. He doesn’t adapt very well to the circumstances of the game. You have to like the guy for what he has done to this point but I do have serious doubts this team will ever be a serious national title contender with the way he manages games, even if we do get an upgrade in recruits.

It's year 5- we're pretty much where we are. Do you see us actually gaining ground on the Ohio States of the football world?
All you have to do is look at where we where 5 years ago. The answer is obvious to any reasonable person.

I’m just glad I didn’t make a road trip, spend $1000 on a hotel, buy an overpriced game ticket, just to watch that. Feel sorry for the folks it did. Go Vols!

The gameday experience is really turning negative. So many gray hairs these days arguing about people standing.

He’d be coaching for his job the rest of the year at almost any of the real championship contenders in the conference. We haven’t gotten one in 30 years so we’ll be happy if he brings us another 8 win season.
Yep Tennessee pays for it excellence but settles for average! Most other sec teams want excellence!

Yep he’ll probably get a nice bonus just for taking Tennessee to a mid level bowl game! So why should he strive for excellence when he can make 9 million a year doing half ass?

With everything going on with the coaching carousel and the players that we’ve got coming in, only a fool would suggest firing him now.
He is an above average coach, not Great. I’m in agreement with others he needs to improve his play calling and upgrade our defense with players and coaches.

I don’t seriously think there is sizeable group that actually wants him fired. But I do think there is a sizeable group that is acknowledging that Heupel is finally regressing for the first time here. We’ve seen what they can lead to and I think everyone is running worst case scenario with it.

I'd fire him if we could get Gruden. That's about it

Idk if he has what it takes to win huge games. I honestly think this loss was more on Joey, Oline, Dline. I think the play calling and game management is questionable more often than not.
I'll never understand the Gruden love....guy has never built or maintained a program. He inherited his SB winning team and a couple years later it was over.

I used to have access to the all 22. I would love to watch the games that way to determine my vote.

I will say, CJH isn’t good at clock management. This is confusing to me since he was a QB.

Rough Crowd in here. CJH neglects the defense. Nico was a fail. JA came into to fill a void. Offense produced. CJH has recruited well. Could get better. He is learning to adjust.

Johnny Majors to his first 7 years had to adjust to the SEC. He had an a ton of transition in his coaching staff. CJH has had little 2 coaches in total. None from the Defensive and one from Special Teams.

Holding on to dead weight will not be the answer. Maybe add 1 position coach. LOS Depth wise hurt us on DL this year. A first yr QB in the SEC as well. Add injuries and a lack of a solid LB corps and continuity in DBs due to injuries was a team stopper. A possible infection by a player could be another contributing factor.

I did not feel we were a CFP quality team this year. We probably would have been embarrassed like we were last year. Win out and go to a meaningless bowl best possible course to take.

A Need to look at the staff and make some changes. Expect some portal turnover if that happens and don't be shocked if and when it does happen. Just a thought.

Somebody mentioned that CJH could not coach up the players for a big game. They may be correct they may not but the there are some dinosaurs on the staff that need to go. With a solid defense and an above the average scoring offense that we have we should be 9-0 or at least 8-1.

Defense wins Championships.

With the injuries, this was no doubt this was a rebuild year. We may end up in a NY's Day game against Miami, or Memphis in the Liberty Bowl.

He turned this deal around but we're seeing why UCF really didn't care whether he left or not.. He's a pretty good coach in ways and he's not in others.
That could be another case study for us as Vol fans. Since Heupel left UCF, their records have been 9-4, then 9-5, then 6-7, then 4-8. They are 4-4 this season and are on their second head coach since JH.

Fat and out of shape. And losing to fit coaches who look like they work out alot and are disciplined. Gotta admit it looks bad.

Heupel ain’t hitting the gym. So what is he spending his time on? Sure as hell isn’t getting up to speed and studying the new clock rules 😂😂😂
