Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

so the fans are allowed to get sour and check out after a small bit of adversity but the team isnt?
The team is getting paid and some a lot more money than the fans in the stands. They can do whatever they want, they spent their hard earned money to be there. Ill never understand blaming or calling out fans. Put a product on the field that gets the fans hyped and wanting to cheer. They will come through if you do.

Kiffin's first time not shatting the bed and he's the most wanted coach in America. Heupel makes the playoffs twice in four years, beats Bama and Florida several times and he needs to be fired according to VOL nation.
We’ve made the playoffs twice? And the one time we made the playoffs we got the breaks beat off of us.

I planned on avoiding this place like the plague for the foreseeable future. Then I realized we are better than we should be, considering the off-season drama. I hate the losses, because I believed in the "fairy tale" this season would be if we just kept winning. It feels worse because we are 2 dang kicks away from being in the front of that fairy tale story. The truth is, few other coaches in the country could take this off-season roster turnover and be competing for a playoff spot in the 2nd half of the season. The truth is, with a mediocre coach, we're sitting at 4-5, maybe worse.

We all knew this was gonna be a down year. I just hope some of the fans realize that we're actually playing above our heads everywhere on the field except special teams and some defense. Fans should still be thanking Heupel, because instead of bitching about a 3rd loss, we'd be getting embarrassed by another 7 loss season.

Easy schedule last year, easy one this year and all we can do is muster up 9 wins. Maybe. Hate to see what this looks like starting with the 9 game conference schedule

agreed

Season prediction: 8-4

Losses - Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida

Quality year, some fun highlights, then turn the page to 2026

Still on target - hope we can get that game in Florida though, and Vandy will be a tougher out than we thought

For the reasonable fan, everything we’ve witnessed this year was predictable based on how the offseason played out

But Big Heup can fix this by pulling a Saban and telling multiple assistants to hit the door. Including BOTH coordinators. Defense fell apart second half offense drove the ball but clearly we miss Golesh in the game planning play design area. Both coordinators are sitting ducks

I dont think Halzle is the liability here folks. Ive been critical of him but lets relax a bit.

I can’t help but wonder what some of y’all’s posts from a few months ago look like—especially the ones predicting our record after losing Nico.

I don’t get on here much, but I remember plenty of doom and gloom takes calling for 7 or 8 wins… maybe 9 at best. Well, here we are—right on pace for 9 wins.

Let’s be real: our defense was always going to struggle this year. We lost too much on the D-line and our two best players in the secondary. Colton Hood’s been a huge bright spot, but he can only do so much—he’s just one guy.

I couldn’t disagree more. This is year five and we look worse than year two. Our AD has sold out season tickets for years straight and added a 10% talent fee to ticket sales. No excuses to be lacking talent or not looked well coached in year five. Same issues from year one are still prevalent in year five with time management, discipline, and penalties.

I think Heupel is a good coach but we’re looking at an eight win season with an easy schedule in year five and that’s not ok. It’s only going to get harder and tougher going forward. The truth is our coach and many coaches on offense aren’t good recruiters and got lazy last year with the portal. We had to vastly overspend for many players to overcome this. Our OL may be one of the five most expensive in college football.

I don’t want Heupel gone at all. I think he is a good coach. But he has to look in the mirror and make major changes to get over the hump.
