The Official #14 Tennessee vs. #18 Oklahoma Game Thread, 7:30 PM ET, ABC

I hope Joey in the swamp is better than Joey in the friendly confines of Neyland stadium

I hope our pass protection and O line on runs is better in the swamp. A few nice holes for solid runs and a bit better pass protection would have helped tonight. Credit to OU's d line and linebackers

We had 60 yards rushing on 35 attempts.
They had 192 on 35 attempts

They have one of the best d lines in the country and were selling out to stop the run. It wasn’t going to be a big running night for us. We were killing them in the flat and with up tempo but we didn’t decide to attack either until the end of the game.

Forget the playoffs, I never thought we were a contender anyways. This team is too sloppy and undisciplined. Changes need to be made. We may drop another 1 or 2. Meaningless bowl game here we come.

This team is the epitome of its head coach - sloppy and undisciplined..... TN has been undisciplined in every season under Heupel.

Heupel reached his pinnacle last season and it's downhill from here..... I know I'll get roasted for this but whatever - Losses to Florida and Vandy incoming......

And next season ---- ooof ---- Next season will be worse, tough schedule...

Heupel is a passive reactive personality who will milk this 9MM job as long as he can. Judging from the folks on here, that is a long time.
Yep. In the real world, once you realize that the guy you hired can’t do a job, you move on to the next person. You don’t just keep paying him in hopes that he’ll get better. Simply being better than Pruitt should not be the only requirement for the Tennessee head coach.

To me, I deeply believe this game is on the players. They demonstrated in the last minute and a half is the only time they played with desire, but it was too late. I t appeared that they assumed that OK would be a pushover after they scored so quickly and easily. They played with no desire except for some Freshmen and redshirt Freshmen who got to play later in the game. I would give those young guys much more playing time for the rest of the season. I would even let GMac get some quality playing time and experience. I guess that is why I am not a coach, but I would play the guys who demonstrate the silliness to play hard when they get the chance.

I'm just not willing to write him off yet.
Yeah this is not the year to lose your coach, with all of the openings all around the country, realistically who are we getting that’s carrying us any higher, we aren’t getting into a bidding war for a top tier coach, now I agree, upgrades on the staff have to happen no question about it

That which must be done inevitably, must be done immediately

I agree, changes need to be made at some level. Josh gets another year but his seat is gonna get real hot next year if this is the same look again

Why was it a terrible call? The catch would get a first down when you had to have one.

There was no one within 3 yards of the guy, you'd think he's made that catch before, and if he makes it it, "What a great call!! No one expected the FR TE to, y'know, actually catch a ball, that's why he was uncovered!! First down TN!! Josh Heupel is a freakin' genius"

except

no ball was caught, now Heupel's the biggest moron on the face of the planet

For the lack of a catch....
I’m gonna assume you’ve never played a sport in your life. So it’s the SB and you’re on the 1 yd line and your gonna bring in the 4th string running back to “trick” everyone instead of handing the ball to saquon Barkley. Riiiigghhhtttt

I’m officially off of the Heupel train. He’s a loser that is acceptable of mediocrity and accepts a pathetic DC without considering an upgrade. Banks will take Heupel down because Heupel allowed it. This loss is beyond disgusting. There is no excuse. Heupel is a loser. A mediocre coach at best. I seriously hope the my Vols lose the remaining of their games to that Danny White forces Heupel to grow a set to fire his DC, DB, and WR coaches. This team is hard to watch as a result of their ability to allow lesser teams a chance to win. Vanderbilt will kick out butts. This has been a disgusting night of football.

It'll have to get bad before Danny would fire him i think, but let's say we go 8-4 or very unlikely 9-3 this season would you fire him if you were AD...I'm not disagreeing with you at all, Heupel has me so damn mad right now just a conversation 🤣🤣
With so many jobs open and folks having head starts I just don’t think it is a good time. But I think a few assistants need to go. And we need a clock manager, I also don’t agree with the onside kick with just under 2 minutes. Pin them and kick it deep. GBO
