What is with all of these OOC opponents we play crapping the bed every year

Pittsburgh in 2022, Virginia in 2023 (granted we knew they were bad), NC State last year, and now Syracuse...

It hurts our SOS. Arkansas and Miss State haven't done us favors either.

Pittsburgh won the ACC, the other three were decent opponents...it doesn't mean anything though,

10-2 still gets us the playoffs as has been the same in every new thread discussion

Pittsburgh won the ACC in 2021 (when TN lost to them). The 2022 Pitt team really struggled midseason losing to a very bad Georgia Tech team and getting blown out by Louisville and North Carolina. Looks like they did turn it around at the end.

Still, you think they would at least be competitive. Not only are they not winning games in the ACC, they are getting blown out like clowns.

We are being trolled now (rightly fully) because our wins are all against teams that can't win conference games.

2022 Pitt that we beat did not win the ACC. That was the 2021 team that beat us that won the ACC. None of the others were decent, 2022 Pitt was decent though and the second best road win of the Heupel era.

Here’s the thing. Leading up to our OOC game, everyone says that team sucks and has no chance. So for once everyone is kinda right. We beat a bad team handily and they go on to have a bad year. We are fairly lucky because good, well rounded teams probably beat the 23, 24, and 25 Vols away from Neyland.

I wouldn't have thought they'd be competitive. They had a meh defense last year but could win shootouts, and the defense didn't really improve this year. Except now they have one of the worst offenses, so they can't score enough to win even if the defense does even okay.
