Heupel Ain’t Going Anywhere, Y’all

I keep seeing people talking like Josh Heupel’s gonna leave Tennessee — and that’s just plain nonsense. The man’s got it made right here in Knoxville.

He’s pulling $9 million a year, got a monster buyout, and total control of the program. You don’t walk away from that. He’s got the AD, the boosters, and the fans all behind him. We ain’t going back to the coaching carousel days.

He’s building something special. Top-15 recruiting classes, one of the best NIL programs in the country, and a fan base that’ll pack Neyland no matter who we’re playing. He helped design this whole setup — why on earth would he leave it?

On top of that, Heupel and his family love it here. Knoxville fits him like a glove. He’s got the freedom to run his offense, build his team, and take us right back into national contention.

This ain’t no stepping-stone job. This is Tennessee. He’s got a shot to be a legend right here — Fulmer, Neyland, and now Heupel.

So no, he ain’t leaving. He’s just getting started. 🍊🔥

You realize his buyout isn't that big.

If he was to get hired elsewhere, he / they would owe $8m. That's peanuts compared to the firing buyouts. And for Heupel to get hired elsewhere, that means a school has accepted firing their coach to the tune of $40M+. If they are paying that to a guy to not coach there, $8m won't be an issue to pay for a coach they want to pay to coach there.

Tennessee is in a better position with regard to that than LSU. Texas and Oregon are really the only programs who are a step above us in terms of resources.

The only way a coach leaves a cash rich program is for one that is even richer. That's the game now. Not in-state recruiting base.

This is funny. If we have so many resources, what are we waiting for? Still barely winning most of our games does not scream top 3 in resources to me.

No doubt we have come along way from the dark days of Tennessee football! But until coach hype at least wins an SEC championship he isn’t even in the same league as coach majors or coach fulmer and IMHO will never be a legend like coach neyland! Just the facts jack😀

Its not a perfect one to one correlation between resources and results. It just tends to correlate. For example, Oregon is much richer than Ohio State yet still recruits at a slightly lower level and has had worse on field results. That's because Ohio State benefits from their historical track record and can get players to pick them over competitors when the money is relatively close.

We just need to keep chipping away and we'll eventually track down the elite programs. Just look at the 2026 recruiting class. We're ahead of Ohio State for the first time in a long time.

We likely are going to finish 2nd or 3rd in the SEC for 3 out of last 4 seasons.
We will be in the playoffs playing for a NC for the 2nd straight season, and would have in current format in 2022 too...

We are closer than 95% of college football
