def headed in the right direction
She doesn't seem to be really quick but when she gets going I wouldn't doubt if she's not the fastest on the team. Hopefully she continues to grow and get more playing time.

there are new rules at the arena:

"No Lanyard, no sitting in the first 15 rows" (in the 5 center court sections). And this is enforced with the threatening of jobs for the people who work those aisles.

No lanyard, no access to the floor
I knew there were fewer people than usual on the front rows.

Ah ha...it now makes more sense!!

One thing I hope gets fixed before the season starts is that, despite that new HUMONGOUS screen having amazing clarity and producing thunderous, clear sound, I noticed in at least one of the videos that were played on it that the sound track was slightly off from the video. It stood out to me as odd, considering the $$$ that system set the university back.

Did anyone else notice it?

Yes, one of the first things I noticed as I was entering was that there was a new special entry area for "Riverside Club" members, and when walking around I saw lots of lanyards I'd never seen at games before. I spoke to a few official staffers there, including one from the company that provides the shuttle service, and they said there are lots of changes this year, and I'm gathering still some confusion about a few logistical details. 🫨

Sadly, for a couple of reasons I opted not to get season tickets for this season and will, instead, be purchasing tickets for individual games as I can get to them, so I have been out of the loop as to what is happening big picture.

All I know for sure is that things are going to be slightly different this season at the Food City Center, but the staffers I spoke to were still trying to figure it out themselves.

Seems likely to me the average, lesser-monied fans may somehow take a hit. 😢 Hope I'm waaaay off base on this!

DeerPark? Please make me happy by informing me I'm just paranoid.

P.S. There was no shuttle service last night, but the company that provides it, T-Link (sp?), was there last night training new drivers, so I had a unique opportunity to speak to someone there about the Ag campus pickup and drop-off areas. Sounds like the drop-off area will be the same as last season -- at the area catty-cornered from the Pat Summitt statue, if anyone is wondering.

Yeah, she looked to me to still be playing catch-up with regard to conditioning and game confidence. She's been through a lot. But that smile after she scored her first points was definitely one of the highlights of the game for me. Kaiya will always bring honor to the program, and that's special. 🧔
So agree! She is one that we will be proud of always!

It will be a long season if everyone keeps obsessing about game time for specific players. The mathematics of 200 available minutes in a 40 min. regulation game, makes it impossible for 14 players to each get 30 minutes a game.

A fully equal balance = 14 minutes per player but the goal of the team and the coaching staff is not to equally allocate minutes but, rather, to find the player combinations that will allow the team to compete at the highest level it possibly can.

As per last year, we will see early season games where everyone gets some floor time but some players will meet the staff's standards and objectives better than others, which means some decent players will fade to the back of the rotation, like Destiny and Favor last season.

At this level, it is all about performance, not fan sentiments. Players know what they have signed up for.

Last season, this team finished 8th in conference. This finish gets forgotten amidst all the positive buzz but that was the worst conference finish for a LV team since forever. CKC and staff brought in 8 new players to redress the deficiencies that limited the preceding squad's success. It is inevitable that some returners might see reduced roles (flip side- imagine if some of these new players are not major upgrades, that outcome would spell big time trouble).

From the players standpoint, they all need to be ready to make the most of their minutes when they do get on the floor and their performances will sort out the rest.

For fans, let the coaching staff worry about player minutes. This exhibition game, if nothing else, indicates that this team will be very fun to watch, no matter who is on the floor.
To put some context to finishing 8th, 2 teams that finished ahead of them TX & OU are very new teams to the conference vs years they were not in the conference.

What does that change really? The LVS are now competing in a tougher conference which makes the need for a squad upgrade even more crucial.

Without Texas and OK, they would have been 6th, still the worst conference for the LVs in forever.

Squad upgrade. Exactly what CKC and her staff have delivered.

Of course, many will be in their first year in Kim's system, and Coach has been very clear that the more years she has players so they can learn this system, and unlearn some things, the better they will be as a team.

So, still the opportunity for a low floor, as Kim has said. I think she will coach them above that, closer to the very high ceiling she also sees for this group. But given what was expected when Kim was hired, the lack of a pre-season ranking last year, and what she did with that group, I see a lot of reason for optimism. Gotta play the games, but I'm excited to watch!

Just to avoid any confusion, that was the spirit of all my posts related to this specific topic.
