Why that city pair? Why not Louisville to St Louis? That's why I say it won't work here because there are too many combinations/permutations, and even with somewhat available rail corridors the upgrade required to run high speed would cost billions.Amtrak is a poorly run quasi government company. I think high speed rail would work great here. Imagine a network where you could get on a 200mph train in Nashville and be in Atlanta in a couple hours without driving or dealing with the hassle of flying.

I guess my question is how do you decide where the service is needed? And by need I mean where is the O&D heavy enough to justify the construction expense.
Didn't get me won't, I like the idea to, I just don't see how you make it workable anywhere but the dense population centers.
Oh and if you want to go Nashville to Knoxville, or Memphis, or Atlanta, check out Vonlane.com. I rode it from Knoxville to Nashville and it's a pretty nice service. You might be surprised
Nah, I just have no taste for the finer things....
Amtrak is what you get when government "privatizes". Just fyi.Amtrak is a poorly run quasi government company. I think high speed rail would work great here.
