ESPN/ABC just went out on YouTube TV

I have Disney+ Hulu, espn+ bundle, which I need to get rid of, but hopefully I can watch the game.

If you have that bundle, you’ll be fine.

While this is mainly ESPN’s fault and their greed and motive to push everyone to ESPN Unlimited, YouTube should not be absolved. They have a carrier dispute with every single company. They had one with FOX recently, had one with Turner, etc.

Honestly, while I believe they still have the best product, I love the switch to DirecTV streaming so far. $70/month WITH ESPN Unlimited (which I like because I watch the Red Wings), you get MLBN and NHLN (you don’t get that with YTTV) and they let you have unlimited streams and unlimited recording. It’s $82 for the extra sports package with red zone but you cancel anytime.

I’ve had DTV for years and they do have more channel options than YTTV. That’s why I never switch. A little more pricey but more channels that I want

Even if you don't have Hulu Live TV?

They will. They always do. Just a bunch of greedy, evil corporations trying to claw every penny from viewers. Not sure I'll live to see it, but I expect all content to go PPV. Hey, I grew up listening to games on radio. Might be fun to turn back to that medium again.
Except when they don’t. I’m pretty sure their dispute with one of the carriers dragged out for 2-3 weeks at the start of the season a couple years ago. I’m sure this will get resolved eventually, but given that it’s Friday and the games are now barely 24 hours away, I’d be surprised if any agreement is in place for this weekend.

YTTV already sent out an email this morning saying they’ll be offering a $20 credit if games are unavailable for “an extended period of time”, so it appears they’re digging in for a lengthy battle.

It's not corporations, it's people. People are greedy. Corporations are non living entities. People are greedy, and people will always be greedy. Stop making the problems, nameless and faceless. I am sure the multiple redundant executive positions could forego a "bonus" for earning more money by raising prices.

these “contract disputes” are so infuriating. I had DIRECTV for years and they pulled the same thing. Switched the Hulu live last year and so far it’s been good enough

It's just a way to push people to cancel their streaming services, sign up for ESPN Unlimited at a low price, and rake in all the money directly. After a while, jack those prices up. Can't stand Disney, but marketing wise they are geniuses.

We lost ESPN/ABC the Friday of Labor Day weekend 2023 (Charter-Spectrum). We were without both for 3 weeks.
I have Spectrum and went thru that. Someone on here put a link to ESPN sports stations. It showed a list of all of them and you clicked on which ESPN station you wanted to watch and showed what was on there live. That is what I used during the outage. I meant to save that link but didn't. Could never find it again.

If someone on here knows about this link and can post it that would help the YouTube folks and we can keep it for when Disney and your TV provider gets into another pissing contest.

That's what the main goal is for ESPN. They want people on their unlimited plan.

I just said, YTTV does not eschew blame. They had a carrier dispute with FOX right before the football season that went up to the deadline of football starting. They raised prices $10/month last year knowing they were going to have this ESPN dispute.

The thing I liked most about YouTube TV was how you could add all the SEC Teams plus more to your Library and flip back and forth between games during commercials, run through the Key Plays to catch up, and the games would stay in the library for up to 9 months. Those are now gone. For now, I will try to watch the game on YouTube and hope YouTube TV can make a deal with Disney. If not, I may need to find a new option. I pretty much only watch college football, basketball, and baseball and maybe Deadliest Catch on YouTube TV. I will miss the DVR like experience for live games.

This is also just a me thing, I pay for the channels I want with DirecTV with their sports bundle. I hated paying for YTTV knowing I couldn't get NHL or MLB Networks, yet they had the MTV/entertainment channels I didn't want or care about.

Wtf. Just read the email last night saying no agreement but we'd get a $20 credit if blah blah blah. My issue with everyone besides YouTube is you can only stream ESPN on one device at a time. I got Sling and they lied as well. Not steaming on more than one device at the same time is a deal breaker. Canceling YTTV now. Done with all these greedy bastards
