Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

A school like LSU could care Danny White fits if they go after Heupel. All they care about is football. They don’t care about being an all everything school. They will pay big.

A school would likely need to lure DW away in order to lure Heup away. Don’t see it. UT is committed to them both and will do what’s needed to retain them. We learned our lesson over the past 30 years how much difference having exceptional quality at the AD role makes vs the alternative.

In-state talent is the only advantage. In state politicians play in their sandbox and the AD that would hire him is not on solid ground as well.

No disrespect to Heupel, but this would be a lateral move for lsu at best. If bk got fired for 9-10 wins a season then good luck getting a coach like heup to avg more than that there

I don't believe CJH would leave for LSU but the Baseball team has their own boosters that have really deep pockets. Baseball is #2 at LSU...

what do you mean? they come after elander?

The good news...Heupel on boards means Vols are being talked about.

I personally don't see him wanting to relocate when he's finally gotten this program established as a playoff contender. The recruiting has also picked up (and will more with the offense looking dynamic again).
Flip side is that his clock would reset and he'd find all the talent he'd need in his home state which LSU dominates. Hey, if we can lose Vitello, we can lose Heupel.

I'll probably take a lot of heat for this but I thought Spillman/Perlotte on the field looked like a better set of LB's than Carter/Telander.
Spillman is rapidly improving and extremely talented. Perlotte and Harmon are two young guys that are flashing when they're out there. As for Carter and Telander...I think Carter was turning into a really good LB before he got hurt. Telander reminds me of a guy like Aaron Beasley who looked ok at times until late during his junior year when things clicked and he started making a ton of plays. I think Telander has it in him but just needs more experience so he isn't thinking as much and can react quicker. There's a lot of potential in the linebacker room. The safety room, on the other hand, is really concerning.

No one thought Aguilar would do what he's doing. Why not Mac? What if the light bulb goes off for Merk? What if Faizon is ready to roll? What if a QB sees Joey and says, that's me and transfers? We have no idea what will happen, but I get your point.
I always like to remind people that I predicted Aguilar's success and was nearly subjected to a 4 horse quartering by the fans in here. . .
