Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Hood is hurt and questionable. Will be evaluated today. McCoy has tried to work his way in every week since Arky, and will try every week. He has to be cleared for contact. Every week so far he's had swelling. Today is a new day in a new week. We'll see.
Thanks!

To his credit, not sure if accurate or not but it seems Kiffin has realized chasing the dollar has bit him more times than its helped him.

I really don't think he's a guy that's looking for the biggest paycheck anymore. I do however think he'd rather be in a warmer climate area.

He has been coaching since 1997...18 of those years he spent in either California or Florida. If he decides to leave Ole Miss I really think it's gonna be for a job on the coast or something.

Here are a few spots I could see him looking at...

FSU I really think he'd rather be in the ACC than staying in the SEC...I also think FSU has more support for a proven football HC than the Gators (with their current AD)

LSU it's talent rich like Texas, certain parts are nice and warm climate. Also really wouldn't have to reestablish any recruiting pipelines BUT far more pressure to be an elite coach there than Ole Miss

"what if game"
Texas specifically any job in the southeast portion. State is full of talent, every major city has completely different vibes for culture...if Sark bailed I think Longhorns could pull Lane easily.

Miami...bear with me, Mario is at his alma mater sure...but is in year 4 and hasn't lived up to expectations yet. New age of NIL and such I don't expect winning 58% of your games to keep him there. He basically has to make the playoffs or could be out. Soft schedule remaining though, only Pitt left that should put up a challenge.

Clemson? I'd be surprised if they fired Dabo...but 3-4 with the talent they returned...could make that a very hot seat or what if Dabo decides he doesn't want to live in his own shadow and decides to move on himself.

Washington...now that they're in the Big 10 could want to become a bigger brand. Seattle is a big city and I'm sure more Lane's speed. Don't think they fire Jedd, but considering his Alma Mater is Florida...could see his name emerge for the Gators (once the first 2 or 3 top choices laugh at them)

Could we possibly move McMurray to CB and then play Boo full time at nickel? Would this be our best lineup?

What is the scenario that we could end up in ATL? It keeps getting mentioned and I can't figure out how that happens when we have 2 losses and their is a bunch of teams with 1 or no losses that will likely win out. I have a hard time seeing a playoff spot as well, even if we do win out.

Unlike a lot of people I see it differently. I do not believe it is primarily a personnel or execution issue, it is more of a defensive philosophy. The idea is that you keep the ball in front of you and make the offense make many plays to score. Each play the offense makes an opportunity for the defense for a negative or a turnover. Defense in football now is more and more about Takeaways and TFLs than yards, both lead to scores . The bottom line and the only stat that matters is the final score.
Well our defensive philosophy to allow a 71, 28, and 56 yard touchdown pass worked to perfection then. Chess not checkers. Bend and break baby
