PFF grades against Kentucky

PFF continues to not know how to evaluate LB play. Telander was god awful on Saturday, and they continue to give him 65's because he tackles well.

This staff needs to just bench boo and be done with it. We all know he doesn't care and will be in the Transfer portal as soon as it opens up.
Bench him?

That attitude wouldn’t even be in the building if I had a say.

Heupel though does kind of commit to trying to develop kids on the field and off. Even he has to have his limits. Coaches have lost the lockerroom in the past allowing cancers like this to grow.

I said it another thread, but I wonder what Telander looks like as an undersized DE, a la David Pollack? He is just a collosal liability in coverage. As you said, he can tackle well and while obviously too slow for LB, he'd be pretty nimble and quick for a rush end that could be disruptive.

My initial instinct is too small but whenever he has to do something other than blitz he has no clue what he’s doing

He is a bit light at 6-2 and 235 lbs, but adding 10-15 pounds wouldn't be too difficult. He appears to have the frame for it. Pollock was 6-2, 255, for reference. Joshua Josephs is 6-3, 240.

I just think he's going to get passed up at LB by Spillman, Perlotte, and Harmon...probably as he should. Arion Carter is no sure thing to go pro after this season. A couple high-level freshmen coming in, too.

Telander plays hard and has a place, I just think we are playing him out of position and asking him to do things he isn't physically equipped for.

Boo with a 42, wow
The interesting part to me is that he knows he's leaving (one way or the other) and still isn't playing his ass off. He should be busting it on every play trying to build film and clout for the portal. With his lack of effort, I'm guessing he'll land at the lowest of directional schools and be lucky to get an NIL of free dry cleaning.

Perlotte and Sanders both graded out highest at their positions. 2 very good freshman talents right there. Perlotte has wheels and is an aggressive tackler. I hope he continues to improve with playing time. We need Carter,Spillman and Perlotte on the field at the same time more often. GBO

I was watching the Steelers-Packers game last night and seeing TJ Watt be a menace off the edge and I thought of Telander. Not saying he has the talent of Watt, but I could envision him in a role like that. I think the dude is a player, but just isn't being put in a position that plays to his strengths. Only problem is we're suuuper deep at LEO.

Yep. Watch what 2 star Pavia does to our defense in a few weeks. Hardest thing to evaluate with a recruit is heart, want to, drive, desire... whatever you call it.
Pavia is a spark plug to Vandy's guys. He seems to make the whole team play harder and better.
