This is going to sound crazy, but I just do not think they're a top 10 team. I don't think we're good either, but they've caught tons of luck with injuries and the schedule just so happened to align with every single pretender in the SEC this year. No UGA, TAMU, OM, OU, etc.

My thing, Venables is Elite, he knows the B12, and he knows the system Josh wants to run. Can we score 35? I think thats what its going to take.

I thought at the very least I’d see some improvements just because of how bad UK is offensively. Or at least not be incredibly frustrated. I know it’s not gonna be last year’s defense but I’d like some sliver of hope they are improving or they show some life. And unless they get a turnover, there is none.

Their issues are their issues. Not going away this season.

I do not see us losing to OU or Vandy at home. Dropping UF is the most likely loss left.

Gibson can't go. Very real injury that can't be braced and played through.

We have a few dudes on defense that trigger a "buster alert" and you just target them at will. You can't really scheme around having a couple glaring holes. Just gotta get better dudes in those spots. With the transfer portal there's not really an excuse for not self scouting and plugging those holes every off season.
DL is very feast or famine. That does't help either. The sack numbers look good but the stats almost feel empty. We go stretches where I don't know we have a DL at all.

I'm still not convinced Mateer is as good as people make him out to be. But our defense will make him look like Tom Brady.

Mateer reminds me so much of Caleb Williams it isnt funny.

Make him stay in the pocket, he cant play within a system, hes at his best when hes running around playing backyard football.

I'll give UK credit that Boley as a freshman QB has looked very good the last 2 weeks. The Texas defense is legitimately one of the better units in the SEC, and he put up 300 total yards and 1 rushing TD on them too. I'd argue his performance the last 2 weeks is better than anything Lagway did in SEC play a year ago.

But the chunk plays we gave up were unacceptable. A 2 yard screen pass turns into a 71 yard TD? Yeesh. I think possibly even worse was how no one on the defense picked up the trick play on the WR pass the went incomplete. Like how is it possible no one saw that coming? Even Stevie Wonder saw that play coming.

Need Spillman and Perlotte for OU. Mateer wants to break contain and create. Gotta have athletic LBs to counter and keep that corralled.

Perlotte has freshman moments and gets washed in the run game sometimes. His eyes will get him in the wrong side of the play. His physical traits really pop though. He needs some seasoning but he has the prospect of being a plus player instead of a major minus player.
